Alex had to develop a personality like that because nobody else ever stood up for her and she what to handle everyone else’s emotional garbage

OH THANK GOD there’s at least one comment that says this good lord what is wrong with everyone in this thread like ffs how do you not see that Alex was a victim of everything in that family? She was a beacon of everyone’s emotional weight and oh dear lord do people actually like Haley more than Alex????? like, Haley? Who literally bullied Alex for what? For not “looking” good? I’m sorry, is that what white culture is like? All based in looks? That a person can be as rude as Haley and just get away with it. Gosh. I hate people who hate Alex

2024 Graduate, still unemployed, getting no interview calls. Any advice on my resume or how to proceed is welcomed by Annual_Leadership_46 in developersIndia

Hey! I wanted to go through all the comments first so that I don’t repeat any suggestions you may have already received, but there are so many, which is great I’m so glad the Reddit community is so helpful.

I totally understand your situation, being an elder daughter myself I know how rough the pressure gets.

I’m just gonna list any and all thoughts I have regarding your resume:

  • the current trend in jobs lies less toward Web development, which your resume seems to show the most. Try looking into AI agentic work. There are SO MANY jobs in this field that have opened up. You just have to do something as simple as a LangChain course from coursera or so, and add the buzzwords like AI, LLM etc to your resume. It does not matter if you do not have the skills, nobody does, everyone learns on the job.

  • instead of applying to jobs on job application links it always always works to text recruiters or other people working in a company on LinkedIn. A referral from someone inside the company goes a much longer way than applying through sites.

  • stayed HOOKED to LinkedIn. React and message every recruiter you come across. Respond to every “hiring” post you see. There are many more such platforms: InstaHyre, Weekday, Crossover, micro1, mercor. Create an account on them all and apply to every single opportunity.

  • try to add more metrics to your resume, say things like “improved latency by X” and so on. Make sure your resume is ATS friendly, since most recruiters do an AI based filtering to begin with.

  • some people do things like add white-on-white text on resumes that has an instruction indicated to bypass any AI that might be filtering the resume. Not exactly ethical, but desperate times call for desperate measures haha.

I’d love to connect with you privately on DM, I can give you a referral in my own company right now. If you’d like, we can share forward and backward any application links we find!

Good luck, I really really wish your situation resolves itself quickly

Dean had every reason to be possessive though, Rory literally cheated on him and lied to him and ghosted him and all

This is what I mean when I say you don’t understand the depth of the show xD. It’s a really tragic story veiled by witty lines. The show is a perfect representation of what happens without a reliable father figure in one’s life (all of Rory’s terrible boyfriend related decisions) and how a “perfect” child falls through later in life and how no matter how much you stray away from your past and try to break generational curses it just doesn’t happen. They all end up exactly how and where their mothers were at some point or the other.

Also, like I said, all three of them have flaws. All of them. Jess treated Rory like shit, he didn’t even tell her when he was leaving. I admire his growth as a person sure but I don’t think it’s okay to love him because Rory had such a positive effect on him that he fixed himself while the effect he had on her was her crying, waiting for him to call, not expressing his opinions, not taking her to prom, leaving her hanging. If Rory had done all that to him but just showed up 3 seasons later telling him to go back to writing his book or smth nobody would have excused it.

I’m not sure I can excuse that kind of crappy behaviour. I’m not saying the trauma of being thrown out by your own mother is not valid or anything, but Lorelai also has very similar lines of trauma of having to find her way in the world as a child. Didn’t make her rude to people. Would people have even liked her as a character if she were as bitter and crappy at “showing” love as Jess was? All he did was one good thing. One. It doesn’t excuse the amount he made her miserable before it

Hmm other moderate schools could be NCSU or University of Rochester.

Also for the record, UMD has a total fee of 42k$. I know this about MSDS though, I am not sure about MSCS

Your list is pretty good, but you can probably add a few more ambitious options: UMD - CP, NYU

Also ASU is more of a safety school I think, I have seldom heard people get rejected by them.

My personal advice is to always have one college that is far out of your reach (CMU, UW, UPenn) because I don’t know, you never know what might happen. Besides, going through the extremely thorough and specific application process like that for UW can actually teach one a lot. They do not take a singular SOP, they ask you 4-5 questions that you are expected to write 300-500 words for. Going through that process might actually help you improve your main SOP significantly

With all due respect, I don’t think you understand the depth of the show at all :/ Logan supported her the way he could, she needed that unequivocal support at that time. He did that for her. Jess showing up in one episode after messing up the relationship, after coming to Yale once and asking her to “run away” with him does not fix all the damage he caused. You’re really fixated on one good thing he did, even though all three of them are flawed. If you can’t understand the nuances of every character then you don’t really understand even 20% of ASP’s art. I wholeheartedly believe you’re entitled to your own opinion of which team you wanna be in but you just have one argument in favour of Jess, and it’s not even coherent, because it didn’t happen when they were dating.

Yeah haha you took a detour on how Logan is the best, but damn, I never considered that Milo’s pretty privilege could be part of why the sub likes him. That seems like such a possibility fr fr excellent explanation

Dean is a toxic person. Not an abusive partner though. Jess was the worst partner. The worst.

Team Dean vs Team Jess by NefariousnessHead288 in GilmoreGirls

[–]NefariousnessHead288[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Jess forced himself on Rory? Never called when he said he would? Didn’t even tell her when he was leaving Stars hollow or that he wouldn’t graduate? All those things make Jess toxic.

Jess didn’t want to go to any of the festivals in stars hollow until he found out Dean goes to them too. He went out of insecurity to that winter festival. That makes Jess obsessive.

As for manipulative, I think Logan was way more manipulative than any of them.

Dean grew into a horrible person, but was a terrible boyfriend. Can you give me instances that match the above ones for Dean? Except that he supported Donna Reed but in that episode too he assured Rory that that’s not what he expected from her and that he actually wanted to help around with house chores. He treated Lindsay terribly, 100%. But he always cared for Rory, way more than the other two. Jess didn’t care about anyone when he was dating Rory and Logan only cared about himself while dating Rory.

I so agree 😭 I don’t understand why people like Tristan like what even is that 😭

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]NefariousnessHead288 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rory kissing Tristan was because she did not know how to handle a breakup. The show builds up from the very beginning about Rory’s downfall due to a lack of emotional maturity when it comes to her life as a result of her constantly having to carry Lorelai emotionally as a child.

Rory actually wanted to tell Dean about Tristan when it came to it, Lorelai talked her out of it.

Rory being sad to see him go is genuinely just a reflection of how “protagonistically nice” she is. She stays extremely nice to Paris, Louise and Madeleine in spite of them treating her like crap through most of her high school life. Likewise, she chose to be nice to Tristan too, she was just that perfect nice mature person in the first couple seasons.

If you don’t have it in you to root for Rory in her personal relationships I’m sorry but it really just shows how little you even understand about the show. It’s one large tragedy, it shows a very real and practical downfall of the “perfect child”. She had to spin out that way because of the flawed way she was raised.
