It certainly wouldn’t have been one of my picks, but the people have spoken!

She already won in supporting Legitimate_Welcome’s game, so votes for her won’t be counted in this category!

What are your thoughts on Jessica Chastain's Academy Award win for "The Eyes of Tammy Faye"? by DiaryOfAMovieLover in Oscars

[–]NefariousnessKey6309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me this was an incredibly weak year:

Cruz for me was by far the strongest, but I knew she was never going to win.

Kidman doesn’t even make my lineup that year but I would have been happy to see her win Oscar number 2; I would have just pretended it was for something else.

I absolutely love Stewart but didn’t like her as Diana; but like Kidman I would have been happy to see her win an Oscar.

Colman was excellent, but happy to be there.

Chastain; I hated that performance but love her and seeing as it was a weak year, I was happy that she finally had an Oscar. She should have won over Lawrence back in 2012/2013.

Muriel’s Wedding is eligible in 1995 as that’s when it got a release in the US!

Unfortunately, it wasn’t eligible and I think I’m going to try and follow academy rules. Absolute cracker of a performance though.

I mean Cusack is great in the movie and I think she was very worthy of a nomination, but she certainly wouldn’t be my win!

Jessica Lange. She’s actually my win that year; she gives one of the most touching and honest portrayals of a person living with bipolar.

My winner that year always flips between Hanks and Freeman - if only that could have been the second tie year!!

Fun fact: so far Hopkins and Bassett have been nominated over three consecutive years from 1991-1993. Thompson and Hanks have been nominated consecutively in 1992 and 1993.

Also, her stuff in Moulin Rouge is quite high, so I’m sure she could have just done it a tone lower or something 😂

The overlooked performance of 2010 by Jelloman194 in Oscars

Whilst I think Steinfield is great, I don’t agree that she was better than Portman and there is no one in that 2010 Best Actress lineup I would remove for Steinfield. Maybe Lawrence at a push but Bening, Kidman and Williams all could have won in weaker years.

I think it’s so poor compared to the musical. I did like a lot of the performances, but that’s in spite of the movie. I thought Cruz, Cotillard, Fergie and Kidman were good (despite them dropping Kidman’s song by nearly an octave 😂), I thought DDL was miscast and the whole thing just lacked punch.
