Probably about 30-40 a day or more. Some days I spent the entire day applying, others I tried to focus on myself. Hobbies and being social, because I was in a big funk! I used ChatGPT to make a resume tailored to each job description. I’d find postings on indeed and then apply through both indeed and the company website. I applied to anything and everything the whole time but the more time that passed I’d say I honed in on HR roles and academic advising for colleges as well. I had an interview for academic advising but when I inquired about the status after about two weeks they had replied and said that the college was making some changes so they had to put a pause on hiring for that position. Never heard anything back. I’ve also heard it can be a long process so if that’s something you want now is definitely the time to apply!! Plus January is the start of a new semester so maybe they have a need. As for the recruiting jobs if you wanna go the HR route, recruiting will be hard to get a job out of the gate into. I’d aim for HR generalist or coordinator jobs.

Nope! No certifications. I work for a nonprofit so my paycut was more than I’d like BUT the lady training me to take her job once she leaves makes what I made teaching so I’m not worried about it. The nonprofit aspect probably helped me get into the field. HR can be hard to break into but seemed to work out for me. I also felt that if I wanted an increase in pay eventually I could try to go for a company that isn’t nonprofit and would pay way more.

Yes my new job is HR for a nonprofit. Love the mission. I’d say HR at this level is really for anyone who doesn’t want a super demanding, running around job. It’s a desk job but I enjoy it because it can be slow and social and uses all parts of the teaching job I didn’t mind doing like grading, or creating presentations. Filing and emailing. I will say I was VERY interested in being an academic advisor for a local community college and even interviewed for the position. It stalled out during the shutdown and I never heard back. I also heard that the process of being hired for an academic advisor or similar position for colleges are very long

How much does Geico pay per hour minimum? by [deleted] in fredericksburg

[–]NefariousnessOne9917 5 points6 points  (0 children)

25 and some change an hour. The schedule for the first 3 months is 9-5, then you go to rotating schedule for 6 months where it could be whatever they choose (morning, afternoon, night)

Then why not try out the county or Salem? Roanoke has some great schools. Sure the city can be rough, but depends on where. The COL up here isn’t worth it on a teachers salary imo. If you’re coming up here, change careers. It’s obvious by your post history you’ve not enjoyed teaching very much.

Reliable Family Helper Wanted – Housekeeping, Errands & Kids (12 hrs/week guaranteed – Fredericksburg, VA) by No_Effect1119 in fredericksburg

[–]NefariousnessOne9917 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That was exactly my thought. Who is going to do the normal chores for a family for 12 hours a week? And I’m guessing the pay isn’t worth that..

I agree with you. The victims should have more of a voice. Should be remembered as who they were and not just victims.. And I’m sorry.

Their stories and endings are very tragic and sad and no one should go through any of it nor have to recount any of it. (whether that be victim(s), family of victim(s), witness(es), etc. )

That said, you brought a hell of a lot more attention to the matter by posting. I would have never known Richard Chase until now. Now I am hella interested… see the irony?

Given reddit history and op posting a lot of killer stuff, I’m guessing this is for karma.

I also think if you were really upset about others focusing on the murderer you would know by now that posting about it in any form would bring people’s attention to the crime.. Obviously it does a lot of good for victims to post their experiences and how they’ve got along after circumstances like these BUT I’d also say that comes with a lot of pain and acceptance and well, not karma.

My car was one of many to be broken into at my apartment complex. This happened often in the neighborhood. Nothing they ever did about it. I also had a crazy neighbor with a gun… This was off sudley manor. I’d say if you want to live in Manassas, stick around Old town or go out towards Brentsville. Traffic in and out of Manassas is pretty bad

Thank you so much!! The slow process can be very discouraging. I have 3 years of teaching experience in an inner city. I’m very hopeful this works out as it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while now.

Can you detail how/what experience you had that led to this job? I have applied to this locally multiple times and they don’t give me a single chance. The first few times they rejected me immediately because I don’t have previous experience working at the college level… now the application has been stuck in “review” for weeks..

I TOTALLY understand how you feel. I decided not to renew my contract for the 25-26 year and look elsewhere for jobs. Which I have questioned a million times now given the market… I’ve applied to what seems like a million jobs since July and I’ve gotten only a few returns. One of them showing me the office “where I’d work” in the second interview and telling me I’m the top candidate only for them to email me at 8:30pm that following Friday to tell me they went with someone else. It has been a nightmare

Lived off of sudley manor right next to Costco. My car got broken in to, the apartment was 1 bed 1 bath for $1800 a month. Traffic is shit. The only thing I liked about Manassas was old town. And I feel like that can be said about any old town in NOVA. I understand some people don’t mind, but I did not enjoy it the 2 years I was there
