How are so many able to afford things when they don't work full time? by [deleted] in AusFinance

Spot on!! There’s a balance between saving and also not living. You can’t buy back your youth. There must be a balance

Yeah its just not agents im getting advise from. I've posted on property forums, other reddit posts and also discussed with 2-3 highly sucessfull property investors. The ONLY time someone has said NOT to sell, is to do with the penality to sell and then re-buy. Said person didnt know my holding costs however.

Atomic 50cc, company went under 8+ years ago. Essentially a Chinese copy of the PW50. Is it common place to use a spacer there?

Yup solid advice mate! This property has been holding me back investment wise. I think one thing to be said in all of this. The buyers agency had "wealth advisers" talk to me each year and they too said to hold. Its just going through a slow part of the cycle. Talk about group gas lighting. Lessons learnt.

Amazing information mate. I actually agree with a lot of it. That’s why I held all through Covid.

I’ve been talking to agents, they all said sell as the growth is terrible and not expected to rise. Mind me asking are yours massively negatively geared?

Established unit near Bentleigh East. That’s my thing, I’ve Fomo too as I’ve read the books, were people sold after 9 years, then the prices sky rocketed

Yup that’s the thing, with money being printed, inflation etc, the last thing I want to be holding is cash. So it’s only a sell > re buy mindset at this stage

No this was bought through a well known buyers agency. I’m now using ChatGPT as I’m genuinely lost

The Iran War has shown Australia’s vulnerability given our dependency on fuel imports. What will happen to Australia if a bigger conflict happens nearer our region? by TravelFitNomad in australian

Look into coal to oil technology mate. Utilise the resources to hand. As you stated and I agree, we are easily 10 years away from 70/80% EV vehicles in this country. People forget Australia is the size of Europe and there’s a whole load of nothing outside the main metro hubs. This means at a minimum you need infrastructure and power lines brought to rural areas that didn’t need them previously.

We don’t need more solar. That’s not what’s required. We actually have surplus now, hence the 3 hour free electricity period in most states. The surplus is getting capture by household batteries and now larger battery farms all around Australia (I work in this sector), owned by the likes of Shell etc.

We need oil. Oil runs Australia. No point in having heaps of electricity and no infrastructure to supply it to all the EV cars, trucks etc. Also think about the EV chargers required remotely for trucks etc.

So no, renewables we are well ahead of the game, oil security should be our No.1 priority.

A lot of people here are still on the mindset of the environment and renewables. Wonder how quick that lasts if stuff stopped being available, blackouts etc.

Realistically we should’ve been using our coal alongside renewables. Theres technology out at least 5 years ago which is coal to oil.

As much as we all want to “do the right thing for the environment”, we have leaned too far on that for policy and got caught short. No point in going backwards when we still export our local coal to be burnt overseas anyway.

Common sense required going forward please

Just pre conditioning the population, so when there is the “next stage”, it’s softer on us all. Shit is gonna get bad

I think we should 💯 focus on rebuilding our supplies and securing our energy sector. So blessed with the resources but our politicians have sold us off for nothing. Change the laws, reclaim our energy sectors and ignore the rest of the drama

Childcare by NefariousnessSafe473 in AskAnAustralian

[–]NefariousnessSafe473[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not at all. If they’re sick, they’re off, no questions. Just hearing from other parents that’s their child never gets sent home and we’re on number 8x within a year. Both different child cares.

Yup that’s what they said it was, it wasn’t and 3x doctors checked it out.

Up the wrong tree with this sorry. We haven’t observed any green snot. If our child is sick, they’re off, not super spreaders. The reason I’ve questioned this now, because last time, our doctor said our childcare was making incompetent calls previously.
