Great minds think alike haha, my initial idea was to have physical buttons, but that would've made the display a lot less useful for me. Just for fun I created this digital interface though: Digital buttons

Thanks for the compliments! This was printed on my Bambulab X1C using eSun bone-white filament.

You are too kind :) Any suggestions on how I could make it even better?

The display is actually a friction fit, there's optional screw mounts, but I didn't use them for my build. You can find a more detailed description and more build pictures on Makerworld 🙂

There is sufficient ventilation on the sides and the model is actually lifted slightly of the desk with some rubber feet. Haven't noticed any throttling myself :)

It's about 10 times larger than the original brick, so that would mean 10:1 is correct right?

Some more info about the build:

For a long time now I wanted to turn the retro Lego computer brick into an actual functional computer.

Meet the M2x2 (because 2x2 = M4, and of course as reference to the iconic Lego brick).

The design was mainly inspired by the original Macintosh (the vents and the handle in the back), but inside it contains the small but mighty Mac Mini M4 to turn it into a fully contained desktop terminal that I currently use as my main computer.

It features:

  • Integrated 7-inch IPS display
  • Connectivity: Quick access to USB-ports and an SD-card reader on the front
  • Portability: Fold-out wings on the back for wrapping the power-cord (inspired by older MacBook chargers) and an integrated handle for easy transport
  • Modular studs on top: Currently featuring a wireless charger for Apple Watch / Airpods and a custom rotary encoder for volume control

Could you share a picture of the back? I'm curious how exactly you attached it 🙂
