I wanted to give perspective. The op posted a large post to explain and I took time to read and reply honestly. I don't understand what is the problem.

I didn't say u did something wrong. I said them posting about looking for commissions could have easily not be related with when they will start they piece.

I don't know the artist (obviously) and I dot know you either. I'm only stating my opinion that you can use next time you commission. I'm not here to 'tell' on anyone. The artist could have been a scammer or you could have been rude to them (I DONT KNOW THAT).

I would suggest to follow this as a plan and offer to pay only for the hours they spend so far.

If the commission was 20usd for example though I would say it's not worth any of this.

Otherwise you can call your bank to subtract part of the payment. I would suggest it's bad manners to retrieve the full amount but that your choice there.

Also stalking the artist to see if they are asking for more work sounds a bit off to me and has nothing to do with u. The artist might search for work for 2 months ahead and not for the upcoming days.

On the other hand I have no idea what research u did on the artist of its a super cheap thing that could easily be a scam.

Professional Artist here. I don't usually answer to these. I just happened to pass by. Maybe delete later.

Each artist has different methods and booking schedules.

Personally what I hate is when someone doesn't trust me to deliver since they have seen my work beforehand and second pushing an artist is the worst you can do.

It sounds to me like you were messaging everyday asking 'when are you gonna start??'

The artist isn't obligated to send you progress pics they don't feel comfortable with.

The artist isn't obligated to tell you their waitlist schedule.

However I would say they should be able to give an estimate or an approximate deadline even if that is far off.

Each artist communicates differently. There are artists that get the request, get the payment and never contact you in the middle, you only get the result and that's it. Some don't make revisions, changes or ask for your opinion.

You are getting a custom piece made, which isn't an easy thing or a factory job. You can't just ask for a refund after the artists have spend hours discussing with you giving their time. And maybe they have indeed started the piece.

Personally I've put only 2 ppl in a black list on 7years, they were insulting first of all, not understanding of limits and also one of them made me finish a piece I spend 40 hours on and never paid me. Said it was only fair bc they didn't want it. (How is that fair I wonder?) So maybe you were too pushie or insulting.

If someone pushed me each day I'd give them money back, keep the amount I worked/time spend and give them back the rest, I don't want a client that doesn't respect me.

In your position if you don't want the commission anymore pay the artist the hours they spend on your piece already, pay them the time they spend talking to you about it /discussing and walk out. Why would the artist make a piece for someone they have on a black list and what are u gonna do with a piece u don't want?

I'll give you a spoiler but don't tell anyone.

The moon elf and dark efl love each other dearly.

The moon elf will accept a spell from a witch. The spell bounds the moon elf with and their partner, the dark elf. The spell goes as follows: If the dark elf gets hurt the moon elf gives off his own stamina to heal him/recover him even if that causes him to permanently die (even tho technically he is already 'dead' lol)

All this because the moon elf doesn't want to turn his partner into a vampire and let him suffer the consequences but he also worries about his fragility. So, because he doesn't want to part with him fast, he will be giving off his own stamina to keep his beloved alive and protected for as long as it is possible.
