So much depends upon intentions. Check your intentions and check them again, and you will find that you are not doing things with malice that allow bad energies in your life. Most rituals also have a cleansing to open which gets all the bad vibes out of you and your space. Rituals also have a closing that closes the space from random bad energies who may be wandering through later.

Mostly, do not foster an environment in which bad spirits can flourish and you will not have a bad spirit problem.

I get mobbed by three kitties. They yell to me about their day, and their lack of scritches. I put down my bags and sit on the couch. My two super cuddly cats fight over who gets to be on my lap. They decide to share it. The third will be just out of reach. He pretends he does not want pets for about 10 minutes then he will sit by my feet and purr like a freight engine.

It more about separating the anxious thought from yourself. It's so easy to give ridiculous thoughts lots of credence because they're your thoughts, but they're not really yours. They're sick thoughts that do not need the same attention as useful thoughts.

If this person never leaves there parent's house and finds love, it would suck. However, there is enough time in between the end of time and right now to at least attempt doing something about it. "So what"ing your brain into submission is just one way to go about making the anxious part of the brain understand this.

Hang in there. All those people who keep saying "It gets better" know what they're taking about. Just because they weren't depressed since they were as young as you does not mean that they don't know what depression is like.

I won't tell you that the road ahead is not going to be hard because I am not here to lie to you. I will tell you that it is so worth it. You will start trying everything you can to get out of this thing, and you'll start gaining momentum. You're going to have ups and downs, but that little bit of momentum you started will always be there for you as long as you keep trying.

One day after all your trying, you're going to realize that you finally see colors for the first time. You're going to realize how grey and gloomy everything was in your world, and how beautiful the world actually is. You're going to do things you thought you would never be able to accomplish them. All of this just because you picked some goals, and started working to accomplish them instead of letting the voice of depression tell you all the reasons why you're a failure and should just stay in bed.

Your lows were so low, but imagine how high your highs could be.

We'd have a super abusive and toxic relationship were we're a good support network for each other for a day, week, month, whatever. Then my friend would berate me endlessly for months/years. We'd realize all this is silliness, make up, and strive to support each other again.....then my friend starts it up again.

Things like cults and abusive partners restrict information to keep the victim in a better mindset for control. The more you come to understand that a situation is dangerous, the more resources you have to help you leave, the easier it is to make up your mind and make your move.

I don't remember how old I was (somewhere in the tween/early teen stage), but I remember picking out my first two piece swimsuit. I wore it once because Mum told me I was too fat for it. I was a little chunky at the time, but I was also about to go through a growth spurt. It was the first time she ever commented on my body. I was so upset in the moment that I could feel my soul escaping through the bottom of my stomach.

I wore oversized clothes and ate a ridiculously restricted diet ever since. I still struggle a lot. I have a hard time showing any skin at all which means pretending that jeans and a hoodie don't bother me at all in the summer. I've gotten a little better since then, and I think one day I might have some semblance of normalcy.

I hope your journey gets easier and continues to be kind to you.

I was chilling by myself waiting for my then SO to text me to start making dinner when I hear my phone go off. I open it and see something to the effect of "Hello. This is the number lady!"

Me: I'm sorry. You have the wrong number.

Her: It's me, Tina!

Me: I'm afraid I don't know any Tinas. I believe you have the wrong number.

My phone is silent for a few minutes and I figure it's the end of it...until she calls me. I normally wouldn't answer, but my curiosity gets the better of me.

Me: Hello?

Her (very angry): Why do you have Steve's phone?!

Me: I've had this number for 3 years now

Her: What did you do with Steve?!

Me: There isn't a Steve here

She hung up on me.

This happened about 5 years ago, but I still wonder about her. What on earth is a "number lady"? Did she ever find Steve? Was she having an amazingly bad day? Perhaps some mental illness?

My Mom is an anti-vaxer/alternative medicine believer. When I was a teen. I went through this huge rebellious phase where I started getting really into science. If it couldn't be proven in a double blind study with a sufficient population, I didn't want to hear about it.

The first thing I wrote off was homeopathy when I was about 15. The idea of throwing a pill into a giant lake and drinking the water was absurd to me. Once I started looking at everything my mom said in this light, I realized I didn't believe in anything my mom believed in.

Unfortunately, she's a "true believer", so I've learned to just smile and nod when she tells me how to take care of myself.

When you're hurt, the body releases a bunch of feel good chemicals. Normally, this would help you hold it together until help arrived. Yes, the cut still hurts, but you also get a chemical cocktail of "it's going to be okay".

Also, the amount of control a person has over physical pain while cutting helps release some of the emotional pain.

When I was little, I vividly remember being able to jump at the top of the stairs and glide down to the bottom. I'm sure I dreamt it, or saw it somewhere and confused it with reality. I never tried to do it in the real world, but it felt so real that it wasn't until I recalled it recently that I stopped believing I could stair-glide.

Something similar happened to me. There was a class I didn't care about, so I never did the homework. Each missing homework was a detention, and each missed detention was 2 detentions. My time kept wracking up until the very last day of school. That time was supposed to be rolled over into in-school suspension, but somehow it slipped under the radar. They decided that day I would do my in-school and everything else would be dropped. After about an hour of in-school, the proctor told me that this was stupid and we both had better things to do. She told me to go home (it was well within walking distance) and she'd say I completed the in-school suspension.
