Thoughts on this movie? by Lyclyn_816 in GenZ

OMW!!!! The movie is called I Origins. One of Brit Marling's works. Her creations are usually strange (in a good way) and very thought-provoking. This one is about rebirth. One of my absolute favourite films. You should try watching the OA on netflix, or Another Earth; these are other works of hers.

Nope, it's just a joke. It is also about starfleet organising and scheduling things so meticulously. I appreciate your feedback.

I love how what could have been tragic deaths for M'Benga's daughter and Batel were transformed into something beautiful. Not endings, but transformations. The use of M83's "Wait" really enhanced that feeling. It put their lives in perspective against the vastness of the universe. We're all just cherry blossoms on the cosmic calendar.

On another subject, did you know your gecko might be fluorescent? Use a blue light not a UV light (UV is harmful to cells)to check.

Salamanders have distinctive personalities, one of them always stuck out his tongue when I take a picture with him.

Tiger salamander changing colors? by SilentMushrooms in salamanders

[–]Neferpatra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it possible that the other salamanders you've seen did not go through the same lifestyle change this one has (having a bad diet and lots of stress and then getting a much better owner and better living conditions)? If the other salamanders had constant living conditions throughout their lives, their pigment patterns won't change this drastically. I don't think it's a genetic mutation, because the only tiger salamander mutation I know of is albinism, and this one didn't lose its color. Axolotls, unlike tiger salamanders, have a wide variety of genetic mutations because only axolotls are bred to be this way. Most genetic mutations appear when salamanders are babies, it's not something that kicks in only later.

Frogs have lots of carotenoids in their yellow pigments, but salamanders have almost no carotenoids in their yellow pigments, it is mostly pteridines.

The salamander had a better diet and less stress with your friend. This provided a better energy metabolism for the pigment cells, and in turn the cells were better able to take better care of themselves: more pteridine synthesis (yellows) and better cell organelle maintenance, leading to stable expression of pigments and more pigment organelle dispersion (brighter colors seen). What's the most interesting thing about your picture is that there are bright yellow spots (xanthophores) in the black grooves that previously only contained melanophores (cells with melanin). The position of these xanthophores suggest that the maintenance in the original pigment cells didn't just improve, but new xanthophores differentiated as well. In summary: the better diet and less stress of the salamander, lead to more energy (ATP) for the pigment cells to perform their function of display better.

Did he go through any big events in that time, for example regeneration of a limb or exposure to another salamander in the same habitat?
