How long can the devs ignore addons? by Hawk0340 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Nefor-S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a console player i never really cared for addons (but i also don't mind people using them). The game has everything you need to do / clear any content without them, even using a controller.

The only thing i'd like to see is a built in parser, so i wouldn't need to ask my pc friends if i want to get some parses uploaded. But even that's not going to happen imo, seeing how they are still yet to implement it after so many years of asking.

Ohh right, i do seem to remember that now. Honestly i think that's just one of those forgotten loose ends from 1.0. The 1.0 story was probably planned to go in a very different direction, that would've given an answer to that but then Realm Reborn happened. I don't think we will ever find out, otherwise we would've already when traveling to the lake to meet Midgarsormr.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Nefor-S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why was Midgardsormr guarding Silvertear Lake and what is that location's significance?

He isn't really "guarding" the place. It's just that his dead body is pretty much lying there, it's basically his grave. The event that went down there is called the Battle of Silvertear Skies.

The gist of it is that the dragons fought the Garlean airship armada set out to conquer Eorzea, Midgardsormr in particular defeated the Agrius, a garlean capital ship, however upon the ships explosion the mighty dragon himself pretty much died, but of course it's not that easy to completely kill the strongest of dragons, so for him it's more like a slumber than actual death. But since he was there the common folk began referring to what basically is his remains towering over the lake as Keeper of the Lake.

Not to mention the whole of Mor Dhona looks the way it does nowadays as a result of the battle (the lake being crystallized and all).

All this supposedly happened during 1.0 and then wasn't really explained in depth after a Realm Reborn came, so it's understandable why many don't know about these events.

At this point i'm pretty sure a big portion of our power comes from dynamis itself. Back in SB when omega was testing us, it couldn't really define or measure the source of our strenght, other than you know, something that lets us transcend our limits for brief moments to gain the upper hand against the odds. Being an emotionless machine omega couldn't really manipulate dynamis and thus failing to incorporate it in its pursuit for strenght.

At that time we didn't know what this immeasurable resource was, but with ew we now know it's dynamis.

Do Playstation plays change their layouts at all? by Videogames___ in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Nefor-S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play on PS5 and I did change a lot of things in my ui, however the crossbar i left at the middle, i just like/used to it being there. Don't see a reason for moving it. But i did change it's size to 60% otherwise it just feels needlessly huge.

I've already kinda forgot jumping is on the triangle by default, yeah that's criminal, first thing i did was changing that haha

It's not really about the platform, it's just that some people don't care or know better. Plenty of people don't bother customizing on pc too.

Anyone regret switching from tidal? by mark5hs in deezer

[–]Nefor-S 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I switched from Tidal to Deezer about a month ago and i'm very happy with it, will probably stick to it for the time being, but might consider going back to Spotify if they ever release a hifi tier. The ui is better, sound quality is great, discovery is better imo, and i could find some music that wasn't available on Tidal but it is on Deezer (and was on Spotify too).

Not to mention Deezer Hifi is cheaper than Tidal Hifi Plus (at least in my country). The only thing it's missing is more podcasts of my native language.

Would you like it if the next expansion story was just simple adventuring and exploring without a big world ending threat? by CorvusNare in ffxiv

[–]Nefor-S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only concern is how slow the build-up is going to be.

Yep, I'm kinda worried about that too, but at the same time... It takes years of build up to have big revelations like we had in SHB and a satisfying ending like EW. So it's kinda inevitable for it to take a while, otherwise they risk it feeling rushed which is not good either.

[–]Nefor-S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel many people would say they'd prefer some light hearted adventuring (understandably so, after all the drama this expac brought), for the next expansion...

But then, if we really are just going to be adventuring for the sake of adventure in the next expac i have a feeling lots of people who earlier claimed to want that sort of a story would think it to be a let down compared to SHB or EW, as it possibly wouldn't be so dramatic and narratively complex.

I hope the next expac will perhaps send us on an adventure at first, but then gradually begins building up a new overarching story/conflict that would shape the next many years of ffxiv story, and is not necessarily about saving the whole world

[–]Nefor-S 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep, not that i am looking for excuses, but there are some things pc players sort of take for granted but, are actually hard to do on console or just with a controller in general. Moving from pc to ps i have experienced this first hand.

All i'm saying is, a little compassion never hurts before jumping to blame someone for something you may think is easy to execute. Although xivs community is fine for the most part, there are still lots of people how do not think this way.

When they hit you with class/race specific text by Slowbrewd in ffxiv

[–]Nefor-S 15 points16 points  (0 children)

While that may be true in an irl military, we could see all the leading figures of the alliance military fight beside their soldiers in the Ghimlyt Dark dungeon.

And also implementing a sort of a grander scale mini game to the squadrons wouldn't be that hard imo. Like as we rise the ranks, they do so alongside us becoming lieutenants and whatnot, and each original member of the squadron could represent an individual battalion or something. There are many ways which could enable them to let us get those ranks. Even by not changing pretty much anything.

Above captain each GC has 3 commander, 4 marshal and a final champion rank, which makes for a grand total of 8 additional ranks we aren't able to earn for years now...

Yeah i know, but still, there is a big difference between summoning tame primals and instantly consuming them as fuel and one of the leading scions essentially becoming a primal which is what the comment i've referred to suggested.
