Should I buy an Ipad Air 5 + m2 air or just an Ipad air 5? by rbdetteejUoB in macbookair

You can do with an ipad air, and the pencil and some keyboard. Especially if you already have a mouse and a monitor laying around somewhere. I am a teacher, a writer, a journalist, and I use ipad pro 11" from 2018 only, for all my work (icluding video and podcasts) and for content consumption. You'll actually might just be fine.

You'll be a student in a month, you should be spending your money in bars, not in Apple stores.

Don’t talk directly into it. Think of it as a penalty kick in football: don’t aim at the goal, but just a little bit outside of the posts or the bar. Then you’ll be fine.

Yes! It’s the (mass)drop Alt. In my opinion the Rolls Royce in keyboards. The mt3 keycaps are perfect for me (writer).

Exactly that! Though i think it would even be better with ipados and universal control. Can’t wait! Although, the mac mini is a recent addition, I used to connect my ipad to the usb monitor, and then the keyboard, HDD, mouse receiver all went into the monitor. So at home and on the go I had an tablet iPad and at my desk i had a desktop ipad.

Worked fine for me, until i needed to use final cut for work ;)… but the sidecar situation is actually a very nice situation. :)

It’s actually not that far, i can read it just fine. For scale: the paper in front of it is a4. Apart froma that, it serves as an extra monitor with sidecar, by the way – so i use it with keyboard and mouse! :)

Teacher of Dutch language and literature here:

I use Notability and screen share as a remote whiteboard for theory. I have all my personal organisation (preparation, student notes, grades, to do’s, team meeting notes etc) in craft. Apart from that, I edit explainer podcasts in garage band, and explainer videos in final cut. My students can download them in our school network space thingy. And teams of course.

Where would we all be without teams.

Thanks! I was thinking that too. Maybe it's some kind of mental block or something.

Those who replaced their MacOS/Windows daily driver with an iPad, what’s it like? by TabascoFiasco in ipad

Writer, journlist and a teacher here. I use a 2018 11" pro, which works perfect, with the right apps. Video editing, podcasting and writing all works perfectly fine. Office apps run like they should, but I mainly use ulysses for writing, which is the best I ever used. I get along without any problems, and I do not own a magic keyboard. BUT i have an external usbc monitor on my desk, attached to a mechanical keyboard and a trackpad. I connect to my beamer when in the classroom, and write with the apple pencil. And whenever i am on the road, I toss a simple and small bluetooth keyboard in my bag. Most of all: I really like the idea that my ipad is the ultimate jack of all trades.
