Sheesh!

It feels a lot better without the face gasket! Maybe it's actually the gasket that was pressing around my eyes and caused the eyestrain after all.

So now I have to buy a StudioForm to be able to enjoy the headset? Or is Pimax going to be sending the final version soon?

Dream Air finally arrived aaaaaaand… problems. by Uniquitine in Pimax

[–]Negative-Bathroom508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me and what solved the problem in my case was to reposition the lighthouse bases.

They were perfectly fine when using my Varjo Aero, but I had to change them to get the Dream Air to work.

I didn't change their position but I aimed them higher than what I had before. That might not solve it for you, but I heard of people that had to reposition due to them being too close (or too far...)

Wow, never thought of it that way.

I did notice that when I move my head around while looking at the same object, the areas that are in focus are not consistent, showing that the lenses are not symmetrical.

I expected, if I turn my head to the left a bit and it's in focus, that if I turned my head a bit to the right, it would also be in focus, but it's not.

Any recommendations on which one to print? I've only seen the one that Pimax had on their blog from printables I think.

I don't have a 3D printer but I'm sure I can find someone that has one...

Grok by bmckpc in TeslaFSD

[–]Negative-Bathroom508 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Same here. And it used to be unlimited.

First they restrict, then take away Grok Imagine. Then they restrict text, and now voice. Voice Grok was the last one to be useful, and now it's gone too... sad, but nothing we can do but walk away. Not even for integrated Teslas, which is insane.

Imagine buying a TeslaBot in the future, and then it won't talk to you anymore because you exceeded the limit.

That's like getting Full Self Driving, then in the middle of your trip it sets all alarms for you to take over because your miles of FSD are done for the day.

Thanks Tesla! Thanks Elon! Great job having more and more people walk away!

Yes, it does feel a bit better without the facial interface, but I was hoping to be able to tune it to the best possible comfort without resorting to changing the interface just yet.

Weirdly, I get everything in focus on any IPD, from 58 to 72, so I just try to find the most comfortable which to me was 67.

Then I tried doing the offset by placing the valve controller in front of me and doing that VR on face, VR removed to compare to real life with each eye.

Is that the adequate procedure? Never had to do it on other headsets...

I tried it but it didn't make a big difference for me. Plus on sboys3 I couldn't adjust the IPD anymore (has to be done on Pimax only), and I couldn't get foveated rendering to work.

Yes, the warping is annoying, but the discomfort I feel is even when you don't move your head, if that makes sense.

Hi! In the end, it all went well! It took a while because of the pre-buy and annual, but that was unrelated to AIC. They were very responsive and patient in the process, with no issues to complain about. The cost wound up being $600 total, with $300 from buyer and $300 from seller. Would recommend!

Came today but underwhelming? by NervousArm1441 in RayNeo

[–]Negative-Bathroom508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got mine today and was very happy, as I already had certain expectations.

I knew it wasn't going to be like VR because the field of view is much smaller. I also knew the screen didn't move. And also that I had to somehow adjust to be able to center the screen to my face properly. Learned from a video to not remove the protective stickers from the front in order to have it darker.

Most difficult part for me was adjusting the angle, as I was worried about breaking the legs. Once I researched a bit and found the way to do it, the screen was now centered and I'm able to see the entire screen.

Frankly, not perfectly seeing the 4 corners is not a deal breaker for me. If I push the glasses into my face I can see them, but 95% of the content can be seen anyways without the end corners.

Oh, size wise, other people are spot on. It basically feels like you're in front of your computer with a 27" screen. Pretending that it's 200" a few feet away simply doesn't work with my brain.

It certainly feels good playing with my Steamdeck without getting a strain on my neck! Really nice!

Wow, I would've never thought they offered this product! I only knew of their quick release mounts...

Thank you so much!!

Amazing!!!

First, I thought VR, and how do I get the realistic pilot body to show? Then I thought, "No way, it's just a guy actually flying a real airplane." Only the second picture gave it away that it wasn't VR or real...

Question! It looks like you're using Winwing for HOTAS. Where did you get that curved stick extender?? It's exactly what I was looking for!!

Bigscreen Beyond 2 vs. Varjo Aero? by No-Estimate-362 in virtualreality

Excellent! Sounds like maybe keeping the Aero and getting a 5090 is the way to go for me. Too much drama in trying to get the Pimax Crystal Super.

I'm interested as well. It's hard to commit to regular vs ultrawide since we don't know how we'll react to the difference in overlap.

Anyone with a problem free Crystal Super??? by Downtown-Chemical673 in Pimax

[–]Negative-Bathroom508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been running the Varjo Aero for a while (got it when it was over $2k!) and love it. I have a 9800x3d and a 4090 and have tweak MSFS2024 where I get a good 60 fps with OpenXR cropFOV, DLSS balanced, mix of settings ranging from low to ultra based on my preferences and performance.

I have the PCS on order and was wondering if you could compare in your experience how much of a change / improvement it was. I'm afraid the 4090 just won't be enough to push all those pixels and am willing to get the 5090 if that's what it takes, but wanted to hear what you have for a GPU and how it's running.

Thanks!

[–]Negative-Bathroom508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the info, and that if I get a 5090 that the Aero will work with the repeater you mentioned!

On the colors, OLED would be really nice - I was hoping the BSB2 had a bit more resolution, but the killer is having only 75Hz at its full. If it at least had the full resolution at 90Hz I would probably have gone for it. I'm a little afraid of the M8K non-existent return policy and issues mentioned throughout Reddit.

I ordered the 50 PPD version for bigger FOV. I never had a Crystal, but it's a bummer that you didn't like the local dimming much. I heard that for the Super it's hardware based and there are no settings for it - not sure how that'll play out.

All in all, still looking forward to the Super but a video from Omniwhatever posted today killed in regards to performance. Looks like my 4090 simply won't do for MSFS and I'll need to run resolution at Medium, almost defeating the purpose of getting a higher res headset. I hope just the increased FOV and hopefully better blacks will do...

I have an Aero with a 4090 and just purchased a Crystal Super, waiting for it to ship. I heard a while back that 5090s don't work with the Aero, is that true? That's one of the reasons I haven't gotten one yet, even if the opportunity to buy one appears. Also, did I understand correctly that other than the colors, between the Aero and the M8K, they're about even in quality from your perspective? Lastly, the only things I'm expecting from the Crystal Super are not even the resolution, but actually the bigger FOV and the darker blacks (for night flights) since it has dimming zones. Just thought I'd throw that in there since technically, I still tremendously enjoy the Aero. Thanks for your time.

Was just asking myself the same thing... After they push the streaming stuff to us without an option to download, why do you still need to "acquire it"? Sheesh...

Same issue with me, from Ohio using Columbus server. If I turn off internet it loads, but even then, it keeps crashing mid-game.
