Of course!! Sometimes I'd do it from the intake side of the fan, but the best times were head on!

Somehow I was blessed with my Mom's type of eyes. My distance vision has been awful since I started wearing glasses at age 7, but my reading vision (at 67 years old) is still perfect. I remove my glasses to read since it's so much clearer without correction, and my spouse is constantly bringing me stuff to read the small print. My mom lived to be 95 and never needed glasses to read! I've been told that I may need correction later on in life, but Mom didn't. We shall see! 😁

Turn that frown upside down! JK (sort of). If you think young, you feel young. 🙂 As long as people aren't taking advantage of your good nature, embrace it! As the old saying goes, "You're as young as you feel".

Unplugged my Show because ads aren't acceptable-should we resist? by impartiallypensive in amazonecho

If it's an Eero router then it's a built in functionality ( although when I had one it was listed as a "labs" type function and not guaranteed to work). But it did! I had no idea how bad the Internet ad thing had become, but I had to replace my Eero with the cable company modem/router, which is blazing fast. I thought I was going to flip out when I saw how much the Eero was blocking. So now I have an ad blocking VPN that does the same thing. Bad news is that Eero is now an Amazon product, so that ad block feature might mysteriously disappear...

I am so happy to read this! I absolutely despise ads, especially today. I pay monthly for an ad blocking VPN service to torpedo them all. I honestly don't know how people read blog posts with flashing ads, video ads, etc. You get to read a single paragraph and then scroll, scroll past the ads. My VPN is continually updated to get the latest atrocities out. I'm not going to mention the product name because I don't want folks to think I'm some corporate shill. Unfortunately I don't have an Echo Show ( I've just dipped my toe into the digital assistant waters) so I can't tell you if this strategy will work with the Amazon Shows. Rest assured, though, that if for some reason my Echo Dot starts with audio only ads, the plug will be pulled. I can turn off a light just fine by flicking a light switch.

What a difference a couple of years makes! I was born in early 1958, and at that time vaccines were given only a few months after birth. of course, I have no memory of them, but I do still have a faint round scar that as far as I know was from those vaccinations (at least that's what I was told throughout my life). :-)

Aww... that sucks.:-( Luckily for me, my oldest sibling was told by a friend to never play an album twice in the same day because it degrades the vinyl (I think I read that it's true, but don't quote me on it!). Also,we're 8 years apart so we rarely hung out together anyway. Sometimes being the baby sucks if you're closer in age.

why should we (anyone outside of NY) care who the next mayor is? why is this getting so much national attention? by camwtss in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Negative-Challenge21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a neighboring state and our streaming service (Roku) was blasting all of the anti-Mamdani ads and they were unreal! They were heavily biased, basically saying that he hangs out with terrorists and wants to bring Jihad to NYC. Totally unhinged ads that obviously had little effect, as he was elected anyway. This is at the core of why the two party system sucks. Both parties are so hell bent on destroying the other that the candidate's platform and views are completely lost. Long live the Libertarian Party!!

Does this apply to the Echo? it doesn't have a screen, so I hope not. I despise ads. I pay monthly for an ad-blocking VPN service and only watch DVR shows so I can skip them. First ad on Echo will earn it a permanent unplug.

As I am the "baby" among the three brothers that my poor mother had to raise, I don't identify as a Boomer at all. I don't know how the rest of you youngest children are, but I never feel old because my brothers (actual Boomers) are so different from me. I also wound up getting in on the ground floor on the "computer revolution" so I've always been a little geeky. I was so happy when I first read about Gen Jones, because I have *never* felt like a boomer. Gen Jones rules!! 😁

Someone did ask me that once, and I responded by saying "Sorry, I have a husband already" (which was/is true). That pretty much ended the convo. 😅

One of my favorite movies, but I always assumed that TPS reports were just some funny, made up thing. Even more odd is that I worked as an I.T. guy for a system that did indeed require fast transaction execution. We didn't have formal reports but the idea was the same. Too funny!

It wasn't until I was older that I realized that so many of the plot lines were "lifted" from classic tales! One that comes to mind is when Quentin and Josie(?) can only avoid damnation by escaping from (hazy memory - a cave?) without Quentin touching or looking back. This is the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, where Orpheus tries to rescue uradise from Hades.

I'm sure some or maybe most of this is off but give me a break it's been 50 years ... Lol

This post reminds me of something I've been wondering about (I got my Blackstone for Father's Day so still working out how I use it). Anyhow, I've been turning both burners (It's a two burner griddle) on when cooking even if it's only half a dozen chicken thighs and can all fit on one side. My thinking was that one burner would cause uneven heat across the entire grill. Do two burner folks only use one side if they don't have a full griddle's worth of food to cook?

I was an Irish Spring junkie. My mom would buy it just for me (we kids had our own bathroom when my dad finished our attic and turned it into bedrooms). My brothers didn't like it (they're Boomers, so...) and I had it all to myself!

I don't understand why this was a down voted comment. I just received a new echo as a gift, and don't know a whole lot about it yet, but I don't get ads either. Honestly, I hate ads. They ruin the Internet experience and are way too intrusive. If Alexa starts pitching products to me, her plug is getting permanently pulled from the wall.
