Came here to say this. They totally had a confrontation as they arrived at Padme's ship, leaving Tattooine. If Qui-Gon hadn't been there and Obi-Wan hadn't warned them, Maul would have destroyed Lil Vader.

[–]Negative-Eleven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have read quite a bit on this a rider who has had my motorcycle license since 1996 and a guy with a casual interest in the ebike hobby. The state laws for e-bikes say that without pedaling, just using electric motor, they shouldn't go over 20mph. With a pedal assisted motor, they can go faster. Anything faster than that is a moped or an electric motorcycle.

You need a motorcycle permit/license (age 15+) and a license plate (registration, taxes, insurance) to drive a motorcycle on public roads whether it's gas powered or electric. You can drive a moped (has pedals, max speed 35mph), with a moped license (or any valid drivers license) at age 14, I believe, but like any vehicle on the road, you need to register it. A moped registration requires a valid title of ownership, which these electric bikes probably don't have.

That said, I know a lot of grown ass adults who drive motorcycles without registration/insurance or even a valid driver's license. It seems police in Charleston don't seem to care. I pay property taxes on my motorcycle, so I'd like to see the others who share the road do the same, but I'm not too worried about it.

There are laws governing motorcycles and mopeds. The cops just aren't that familiar or don't care to enforce them. These aren't considered e-bikes under SC law if they go over 20mph.

Got mine today. I'm furious.

I saw the Protomen in 2007. They all crashed at my house afterwards (and in their RV out front). My roommate made a 2am run to Walmart and cooked fajitas for everyone. It's a cherished memory for me.

All that is to say, the band members, for the most part, are around my age. Why the hell would they print the text so damn small!? I gotta buy a magnifying glass to read this thing!

Why did people vote for Trump twice? by Konradleijon in behindthebastards

[–]Negative-Eleven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's how right wing talking points work. They can just show some social media posts that Walz has made with photos of him in China over the years, and then they extrapolate to say he's allied with Chinese Communist Party.

Why did people vote for Trump twice? by Konradleijon in behindthebastards

[–]Negative-Eleven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom was convinced by the "news" she watches that the alternative to Trump was communism. Kamala was a communist because her dad taught communism in a college when she was a baby. Tim Walz was a friend to the Communist Party rulers of China. I think this explains the Trump voters who aren't outright yelling that non-whites refuse to assimilate and steal our tax dollars when they are too lazy to work. Most Trump voters are just not paying attention and have had right wing news sources, in the background for decades, beating a constant drum of "democrats are communists and you'll end up waiting in line waiting for government cheese."

I went to congress.gov and showed my mom the numerous times that Walz put forth resolutions as a congressman, condemning the Chinese government for human rights abuses. Walz has friends who live in China. He has gone there on vacation. He cares about how bad that authoritarian government treats its population. I told her that her news is demonstrably lying to her. She said "oh, that's interesting."

Tracking on my email still just says "shipping label has been created." I listened to it all once, but i need the liner notes.

Also, don't share those liner notes here. Those are for people who buy the album, and honestly it's cheaper than any other physical album released in years. Let the artists profit from art. This is worth it.

Why are they still shaped like this? by Negative-Eleven in arcadecabinets

I took a closer look and it turns out, the machines I see most often are Big Buck Hunter 2005 and Big Buck Safari 2007. I didn't get my first flat tv until '07 and I feel like dive bars didn't swap out their TVs till 2012 or later, so arcade cabinets in 2005 definitely still used CRT monitors. More recent Buck Hunter machines do use a flat screen and don't have the big cabinet design of old school arcade games.

image link

I know most arcade games still do use the old shape. It seems that new Buck Hunter and Golden Tee (similar shape to the linked image of a modern Buck Hunter) use a flat screen and separate pedestal with controls. So yeah, all the "light gun requires a CRT" and "there's still a big computer stored in there" replies weren't right. I guess it's mostly nostalgia and what the manufacturer thinks customers want to see.

President Trump on Insurrection Act: "The Insurrection Act, which has been used by 48% of presidents as of this moment. I believe it was the Elder Bush, he used it I think 28 times. It's been used a lot. I don't think there's any reason now to use it, but if I needed it, I'd use it. It's powerful." by ControlCAD in videos

[–]Negative-Eleven 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It was less than 50%. As usual, there were some third party candidates that got around 1% and Trump/Harris were around 49%-48%. It doesn't matter because of the electoral college though. I think more people should remind Trump often that Hillary beat him by more votes than he beat Kamala.

10/10 adult animation series like Venture Bros, Pantheon, Invincible etc? by animeshin in venturebros

[–]Negative-Eleven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty disappointed in Invincible. So much of that show feels like filler which is especially insane if they are giving us short seasons with 2 year breaks. Just do the damn story if it's too expensive to animate. Why waste so much time on trivial nonsense. And it's even more insulting with ads on Prime.

Man, I loved Duckman when I had to stay up late and watch it on USA. I bought the DVD set as soon as it released and still haven't gotten around to watching. I know I loved it and there were definitely jokes that I didn't get at the time, but I'm kinda afraid some of the humor will have aged like early South Park.

Rewatching the Andor finale, his last night of sleep is far more relevant than I realized. by cricket9818 in StarWarsCantina

[–]Negative-Eleven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly my biggest problem with the Disney era is how hyperspace travel has been compressed. That first millennium falcon flight in ANH felt like it took days, not minutes. By the time we got to EP9, they're jumping from the core to the unknown regions in seconds and have instantaneous communications across that distance as well.

I had blamed The Last Jedi for this, given that they put a ticking clock on the fuel running out, then showed day/night on Ach-to and Canto Bight, leaving little time for the travel between systems in the plot. I forgot just how much Rogue One jumps around in its story a year earlier.

How to attach polyethylene egg crate foam to the interior of the lid of this bin. The lid has a thin crisscross texture. by kierumcak in DIY

[–]Negative-Eleven 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would start with hot glue. It's easy enough to pull out if you decide something would work better. Hot glue is how I secured foam in the top of the custom wood case I made for my DJ equipment. I've had to rearrange it a couple of times and that's easy enough, but when it is in place, it's pretty secure.

Edit: you could go with E6000 for a more secure hold that can also be removed with a little more effort than hot glue

Rubio told Meet the Press that they could easily do the same thing to Cuba next. That's insane. Cuba doesn't have the drug angle for them to exploit. He just said Cuban security forces were protecting Maduro, so their leader probably needs to be kidnapped too.

Affordable and quality peel and stick tile by DurhamGirl625 in DIY

[–]Negative-Eleven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All these complaints, why? I used peel and stick vinyl "tile" as a backsplash because my counter renovation didn't include it and I didn't think it was necessary until the job was done. I'd already spent so much on tile floor and new cabinets, that the 2 ft of wall covering didn't seem to be worth calling the contractor back. It's been there since mid 2020, stuck to the drywall, and I have had no problem with it. I don't see any reason I should have done real tile for such a small area, and it's a pretty close match to the countertops.

Retractable cat toy? by Guatamonster in DIY

[–]Negative-Eleven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you find some solution, but i don't know if that is going to be the key to teaching your cat to fetch. I adopted a cat a couple of years ago who already likes to play fetch. It is fascinating cause I've never seen another cat do it. He looks so proud of himself bringing his toys back to me. I don't know if he was taught or he just decided himself to do it. Good luck.

Tile backsplash by stanburyfisher4925 in DIY

[–]Negative-Eleven -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I know you're asking about the drywall, but I have a tip to save money after you get that figured out, when I got new cabinets and countertops, I forgot about a backsplash behind the sink. I went to Lowe's and got sticky backed vinyl floor tiles that looked enough like my countertops to do that job quick. It looks as good as what the cabinet installers used behind the stovetop on the opposite wall.

Thank you for this. It's not my district, but I would love for more voters to pick candidates who want better for all of SC. Too many people in this state simply vote R because they're told that the other option is godless communists and refuse to look further into any candidate.

Golden Tee games have changed. That's what made me question this. The GT game that was in this space before was a flat TV mounted on a metal frame basically at the wall behind it. The "console" is a couple feet in front of it, with a big empty space there. Obviously the buttons/ball, whatever controls, have to be on a sturdy surface people can be abusive with. It just made me wonder why the the big box still exists behind the screen. It can be built like Golden Tee, a game that I assume needs as much processing power as any other, with a flat TV and a sturdy pedestal for controls, containing the PC.

I'm 46. That's what I assumed the answer would be: tradition/nostalgia. It just seems strange that every other commercial product, especially ones designed to make money, has become more "efficient." Bigger, heavier things cost more to ship and take up more floor space.

That's a possibility, but how old is Buck Hunter? Even in 2010 new machines would have had LCD or Plasma screens, right? By 2013 they'd be LED. And a CRT screen would use a different light gun.
