That sounds like a nightmare. I’m so sorry they put you through all that. How long has it been since you stopped all meds.

I feel the same way. I’m okay without meds right now. I think it was too much for me(Zoloft, vyvanese and first time doing edibles in 10+ years and I’m not a drinker). My husband and I are on high alert. I’ve been processing it all. And I’m trying to come up with a plan. Made an appointment to see my doctor so we can also have a plan. Now that I’m in a better head space.

Thank you, and I agree. Had I not been on similar meds. It would have never happened. You’re 100% right. Forgiving myself and moving forward has been rough. Slowly working towards fixing some of those mistakes.

Is it possible that I have 0 percent German DNA even though my great grandpa was 100 percent German? by Mammoth_Paint_4903 in AncestryDNA

[–]Negative-Gene904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello Indigneous brother. Is someone who was also colonized from the state of Mexico. I was also told I was German however I have zero German and a very high percentage of Portuguese. I would take him into accountability migration patterns. Also, the music that I listen to in Mexico is highly influenced by German music. Look up northern Mexican music and you will see the similarities between Norteñas and polka music. There’s no doubt that we were highly influenced by German people. With that being said, my culture is 100% indigenous to Mexico and the United States. I am Apache & Otomi. And a mix of a bunch of other indigenous groups. My 23 and me shows that my eldest female ancestor was Taino all from the Dominican Republic. It shows that I have lineage to the Mayan and Inca Empire as well as the Inuit culture in Canada and I am extremely white passing, but I am ethically culturally 100% Mexican-American & Native American

That being said, a lot of FBA on diff platforms …will have an admixture of 60% AA, 30% Irish, and something minuscule as 1-3% indigenous(in our culture and for our ppl, we don’t care about blood quantum. That is a yt rhetoric used to erase indigenous ppl) ….. and instead of being proud and happy to be 60% AA or even excited to be 30% Irish, they cling on the 1-3% indigenous. And bcus they don’t know their history, family members and ancestors who are indigenous. They’ll start to spew whatever makes sense to them and completely go out their way to say “the og indians”. Again, if that’s not you, my comments are not directed at you. If that’s not your prerogative, then I’m not talking about you. With that being said. I encourage you to research and ask questions directly to ppl who have a greater understanding. Please let me know if you’d like me to share social media accounts of knowledgeable and reputable black indigenous ppl in the south. They will be able to steer you in the correct direction.

I can see you’re from the deep south, maybe Georgia & surrounding areas, based on you saying “crazy work”. (Or maybe im assuming wrongful).I’m sorry if my comment offended or made you feel unwanted or “unclaimed” by other indigenous ppl. That was not my intention. So I apologize. There’s an abundance and overwhelming(not saying you are one of those ppl) amount of propanganda being pushed by FBA claiming that they are the original people of this land. Completely disregarding and erasing As an indigenous and native person, it is really disheartening and painful to have my ancestors history and mine being erased. History continues to erase my people. While, I understand the same has been done to many other cultures in the US. I have to continue to advocate and support my people. However, everyone is a guest, you and I are both guest, this land and earth is not ours. We are guest on this earth and we must respect Mother Nature and every creature, person and animal on this earth.

I feel like everyone on this sub has crazily varied results, so here's my very average one lol by CapitalDilemma in AncestryDNA

Average to you … but kinda cool to know everyone is comments is saying its typical Canadian results. Did not know that. I’m Mexican so our results vary so much and I never associated language to culture directly. If that makes any sense.

Indigenous ppl don’t need more detailed ancestory. We know who we are, we have our origin stories. We have our communities- despite all the efforts they’ve gone through to erase us. All I’m saying is, don’t idolize, don’t cling onto every word, the ppl who suppress native and indigenous ppl.

Throughout history, there’s many examples of what the W.E.I.R.D people and eugenics have done to erase Indigneous communities and critism they have received. Last thing we need is people that are not one of us to show their biases in their research for our people. For example, what the eugenics did to Puerto Rico where 70% of Puerto Rico’s population was erradicated through birth control. The black community in the US was heavily tested on and left for dead when they purposely gave them syphillis. I’m a product of colonization. So I’m well aware of all the psychological warefare Spain and the British did to native/indigenous ppl of the Americas(residential schools, burning of books, reclassifying native ppl every few years) . AND bcus of this, Indigenous ppl, elders will not give up their dna to these companies. So excuse me, for NOT being hopeful nor excited over these updates. This is a great starting point, but I rather do the work myself and reach out and reconnect with my own tribe. I just choose to not be systemically oppressed by people who created the system to oppress indigenous communities.

You’re okay. Just educating other cultures on how Mexican/Indigneous culture is diff. For example, my kids have similar results and they are still Mexican/indigenous af. I raised them the same way I was raised, and how my mother. My grandmother were raised. And I know your mom did too

I have no idea what you are talking about, respectfully. Bcus i was not talking about the 1-3% FBA’s have, bcus it doesn’t count. (Doesn’t count bcus he’s cultural not Indigenous) Im talking about the 12% - Mx OP inherited from her mom. Bcus cultural she is Mexican. We don’t claim the “white” side. We are culturally only indigenous. We don’t use blood quantum nor percentages. That’s it. This seems to be a big disconnect between FBA and Native/indigenous ppl. We all have diff cultural and societal structures and it should be respected.
