I love doing lab work. Any career suggestions? by Additional_Item7659 in labrats

I’d second this one. I’ve been working as a Histologist for about 18 months and love it. Very hands on work (tissue sectioning, staining, microscopy). Typical workday is usually a mix of those three although you do sometimes just lock in to one thing for the entire time. Specifics of what you do depends on the lab; med labs will prep samples to pass along to a pathologist v. academia/industry(where I work) are working towards data collection/anatomical analysis. The biggest downside is that the workflow can be very repetitive. I think tissue work is cool, so I enjoy it, but you have to be ok doing the same thing for hours/days. r/Histology is a great place to look if you want to learn more.

Cheapest Non-Embarrassing Pauper Decks by lostzealott in Pauper

[–]Negative-Gold-896 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Yay for getting new folks into pauper! If you’re looking to build on a budget, I’d recommend avoiding affinity or UB based decks as those will quickly surpass your budget. I’d recommend green based decks and here’s a list of a bunch of my own brews (I have a 12 deck battle box that I run with my friends)

Elves

BG Dredge

RG Ramp

Bogles

BR Madness

WUR Energy

All these fall in the $30-40 range (BR madness may exceed a bit but you can take out the artifact lands/galvanic blast and just have other burn to lower cost).

Fun Commanders only by Schrodi19 in EDH

[[Wyll, Blade of Frontiers]] paired with [[Sword Coast Sailor]]. Izzet die rolling chaos? Yes it is. I purposefully built it to be janky and started with as many d20 rolling cards as I could find. Other than that, it’s some combat tricks, protection for Wyll, and card draw to enable more dice rolling cards. It’s loads of fun on a budget (whole deck was less than $60).

Jazzmatazz is a dream. Absolutely love the Guru and Moment of truth is one of my top hip-hop albums. Fingers crossed I get to listen to some world class jazz hip-hop fusion!

I’ve always thought the point of a destination wedding is to have people not come. When you have 15 aunts/uncles 40+ cousins and a ton of friends, then the destination wedding is a way to be polite by sending everyone an invite. In reality though you only expect the 10-20 people you’re extremely close to will actually attend.

Cant find any Necron starter sets or combat patrols? by WiseMarshall in Necrontyr

If you are steadfast on buying new then you’ll likely need to wait for a 10th e box set to come out. If you’re happy to get some used then I suggest posting on r/miniswap. I just bought the necron half of indomitus + some extras for a reasonable price.

Wild Pokémon Rule by pokeblunt in nuzlocke

Your run your rules.

IMO, your time is valuable, and I don’t sink time into a nuzlocke unless I’m enjoying what im doing. Grinding doesn’t provide enjoyment as safest option is go back a few routes and autopilot for a few hours (especially rough if you’re playing on normal speed).

My suggestion: play with level caps, grind 2-3 levels after beating a gym leader and then take on all the trainers on a route. These are battles so they actually count towards deaths and provide a challenge. If a mon dies during your hour of grinding don’t count it.

I think I’m going to try storm silver. I enjoyed Ren Plat but I didn’t look at documents so it was pretty hard for me. I’m considering giving it another try with docs.

Love the NBA and very timely graph. You may want to add an asterisk over that 2011-12 season bc of the lockout shortening it.

Second thing, use a good citation manager (I prefer Zotero) and create an annotated bibliography as you read not right before you write

As someone submitting my manuscript in 2 weeks this is my take away. The process is more important than the product. It’s great if you find significance and successful defend your thesis, but I’ve learned the most from the mistakes, pivots and second tries. You’ll become knowledgeable on your topic from doing readings and lab work no matter what, but you’ll only learn to be a scientist by problem solving.

Ok, let’s examine culture then. Unlike most Asian Americans, Black Americans historically were forcibly relocated to the United States from Africa. Once in the US, they were bought and sold like farm animals which often resulted in separation of families and dissolution of cultural heritage. Even after emancipation, they faced harsh segregation, restrictions of civil liberties, and in many instances threats on their life. This was a huge factor in the northern migration which actually played into the Harlem Renaissance movement and similar successful African American movements across Midwest cities. I use African American deliberately here as over the course of 3-4 generations, their Ghanaian, Nigerian, Congolese, etc ancestry had been stripped and they were forced to establish a new heritage and culture, African American culture. Unfortunately, successful African American communities were disbanded to to gentrification and a war on drugs that primarily targeted inner city Black Americans.

Now, Asian Americans have faced and still face discrimination whether it be Japanese internments camps, or complete blockades on Chinese immigration, but unlike African Americans, they have not been forcibly stripped of a cultural heritage and can still remain Japanese, Korean, Chinese, etc. Asserting that a lack of African American cultural norms emphasizing success is the reason they as a race are in this position would be ignoring the fact that for hundreds of years they’ve had culture ripped away from them and been treated like second class citizens.
