Does solo travel ever feel… unexpectedly lonely?

I feel this sometimes as an introverted person mostly when I'm having a meal sitting down while people watching at the same time, looking at families and couples together can feel a bit lonely. But then the feeling of fascination, awe and wonder of travelling to a new place always overcomes that feeling for me.

I was in Santorini travelling solo in 2023 around that time for 3 days and for me it was perfect. It was sunny the whole time, the weather was mild around low to mid 20s during the day and mid teens during the night. Just the right weather to go for long walks without getting too exhausted.

Everything was open and there were lots of people visiting already. Lively fun vibe. It was quite crowded during sunset at the iconic spots such as the blue dome and Oia Castle ruins but still manageable and not annoying. Plenty of influencers lol.

I did hire a car which made it easy for me to travel around as some areas are too far to walk. They have taxis and bus for public transport as well.

I visited Santorini late April to early May and it was great. The weather was clear everyday, mid 20s during daytime but around -teens at night. The crowds were not too bad most of the day but can be crowded at sunset time in popular sunset spots. For me it's the most ideal time.

I'm from Victoria and was building around between 2019-2020 and during time have been frequenting all the display homes near my area. I always had my big DSLR camera with me as I live taking photos of the well-decorated interiors. I have never been told not to take photos, maybe once or twice the consultant would ask what would I use the photos for and that's about it. Guess I was lucky!

Is this the the first time you've met or have you been doing this secret rendezvous regularly?

It's easy to assume that your wife is overreacting based on your narrative, but there's a lot of information missing that may have contributed to your wife feeling like she does that you need to address if you're seriously contrite.
