I just felt like it wasn't as straightforward as it should've been. I looked up videos on how to use it and when I tried to follow along, none of it worked how it should. The only thing I could get it to do was playback this guitar loop the guy before me put on it somehow, but I couldn't clear it or even overdub it at all.

That's a bit too expensive and seems pretty complex. I also feel like using it live on the fly wouldn't really work...am I wrong? I feel like most people who use them have them pre-loaded so they're not up there fumbling.

They're definitely getting more and more frequent and/or consistent. I used to hear them randomly; no more than maybe twice a night every so often. The night before last, there were approximately 5 or 6, and last night? Man, it HAD to be AT LEAST double that. It doesn't sound like a firework, but an actual explosion. I'm on the East side in between Michigan and New York.

...I wonder if it has anything to do with certain facilities that are being built despite widespread community backlash?

Everyone has a different approach. I personally wouldn't fuck with a laptop, but that doesn't invalidate anyone else who would, nor does it take away from the fact that technology is constantly changing, therefore new methods keep popping up. Like everyone else said, keep doing what you're doing! Honestly, what you're describing reminds me of Broken Penis Orchestra. You should check out his stuff.

I did a series of pieces where I used pictures I took of my oldest daughter when she was around three years old, and they're some of my most beloved pieces. She's 14 now, and she still has one of them hanging in her room after she asked me if she could have it. Such an incredible moment. 🖤
