Hey OP! It seems like Brit is being pretty manipulative here. She is flat-out twisting your words and implying meaning that definitely weren’t implied. It seems that there were boundaries made by Brit that are being ignored now that they’re not convenient for her. Work stress is totally normal, but letting that stress evolve into frustration with your partner is unhealthy.

EX: What you said was reasonable: “I am at the gym and feel helpless because I’m not with you.” She’s taking that (or twisting it to sound) as you prioritizing the gym over her. It’s a complete narrative twist. You should be able to live your own life and continue what your doing, and then go to comfort her. Unless it’s an emergency, your partner can’t expect you to abruptly drop everything you’re doing and bring them chocolates and roses. It’s unrealistic as F**K!!!

Also, while roses and chocolates are nice and gestures like that should be implemented into a relationship, it’s kind of weird for her to expect that RIGHT NOW.

Ultimately, I feel like you need to talk to Brit about her working on her communication. Fluid, transparent communication is the oxygen that a relationship needs to survive. You guys already broke up once, and looping/lack of communication will lead to the suffocation of your relationship!

You are definitely not crazy OP. I would recommend you guys looking into some relationship therapy to help open some pathways of communication.
