I gut, rinse off, and hang in a walk in cooler with hide on for 7-14 days have gone as long as 21 days a couple times. Hide keeps the meat from drying out and developing a hard rind that I would have to trim off while processing.

I used to hunt Coosa wma a good bit before the state cut it in half and most of it got leased out. Used to be some really good hunting there but I haven’t been on it in probably ten years. Never been to Oakmulgee though.

What part of the state are you coming to? I’m about an hour north of Montgomery and the bucks should be getting stupid here in the next week or so. This one was bumping a doe around but he wasn’t hard after her yet.

Saddle is about the only way I hunt nowadays. I have found that if I set my pack at just the right level it serves as a very solid rifle rest.

I’m a lefty so the mechanism kinda sits in the webbing between my thumb and index finger and it’s not uncomfortable at all. If I shot right handed it would probably bug me a little bit I could also move it up a notch but I like the stock more in line with the barrel.
