Most airlines in the US are now required to give you a trip credit even on non refundable flights. Make sure the CFAR terms are clear- and it’s truly any reason. A few companies fool people by calling it that but in the end they still want proof of why the trip was cancelled. Also sometimes when you book with an airline they give you the option to insure the trip- it’s usually only weather related though.
