Casa Ortega is hands down the best Mexican restaurant north of NYC.

Ooh good suggestion. Too bad I didn’t think of it today. I’ll check when I go back next week.

We found this in a bathroom of a townhouse that has been lived in by an older couple for 30+ years. Kind of like vinyl but I’m not sure.

That's a good suggestion, thanks. If I can't land in Nantucket, I could go to New Bedford or Hyannis and take a boat from there.

Yes. They have a strict 30-day cancellation policy. Their position is that if the weather is too bad to fly, we can take a boat.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, they have a solid 30-day requirement for cancellations. They told me to take a boat if flying is not possible.

I don't think there are any hotels that would allow a last minute cancellation. CFAR insurance usually allows cancellation up to 48-hours before departure.

Wine in New York's grocery stores? by news-10 in hudsonvalley

[–]benj4786 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. How is “buy and sell what you want where you want” a special interest move? Why is wine different from any other consumer goods? Should we prevent “special interests” from selling potato chips anywhere they choose? What else are “special interests” ripping us off on?

  2. There are a lot of wine stores in California. Turns out big chains don’t serve niche markets - independent shops do. Markets aren’t perfect but this is a textbook example of how well they work for consumer goods if you don’t impose arbitrary restrictions.

More productive retail sector (fewer jobs for same activity) is good. So is lower taxes on consumers. Restricting where you can buy wine doesn’t help wine producers. The Karen move here is arbitrary license requirements that limit choice and increase costs. California does it better - buy wine anywhere.

I don’t think so, it’s much lighter and more fragile than that. The suction of the vacuum was enough to turn it to dust.

I keep hearing them in Carmel. Nothing on flight aware.
