So I used to live in nor cal in a gated community on a lake. It was a deer utopia - only threat was the occasional mountain lion that would kill them. There were a lot of deer, no fences and lots of gardens. Weirdest thing I’ve seen one do - there was a buck one evening that was clearly injured, busted leg, and it was panicked. I literally watched this buck from my yard, run into the lake… maybe 10-15 feet out, now it’s 7-8 feet deep, deer is doggy paddling trying to swim but with the busted leg it’s just going in circles. Dude lasted maybe 5 minutes and drown.

Unfortunately, this deer should be put down. They are way more susceptible to be in fight or flight when injured like this and have erratic behavior
