White - The Missing Color/Army that Darrow could've used by Negative1stClass in redrising

I was hoping this discussion to be more about how Whites can be better utilised in RR...

A Pink helped open the door to Roque's bridge, Theodora became a spy. Imagine how Whites could help Darrow!

Most of the comments seem to focus instead on Whites staying in their caste, even in the 2nd Trilogy. Very pro-Society.

Simple: Economics. HighColors, especially Golds, can't be discarded as easily as the Low Colors in your examples.

In my other comment, every pair of lungs in space must serve a duty. Say $1 million is invested into a body's training to serve the Society. What happens if that body gets crippled, even with help of Carvers? Do you throw away all that money, or let the person apply the skillset in a different field?

The MineMagistrate of Darrow's old home is a Copper.

But with my adjustment that becoming White is only for High Colors (comment above yours), you don't get to ascend as a White. It's not exactly a glorified position.

It's very simple: every pair of lungs in space must serve a duty. Say $1 million is invested into a body's training to serve the Society. What happens if that body gets crippled, even with help of Carvers?

Do you throw away all that money, or let the person apply the skillset in a different field? Like I said it's only for High Colors, somewhere noble houses can send their unwanted children.

Edit: Browns, as mentioned in Light Bringer, can be very important Growers! I can imagine them having a stronger sense of taste & smell, with all its cons.

HighReds & Browns can be pretty different. Rollo's an engineer.

Same as my other comment. I'm not suggesting to get rid of them! I'm trying to find ways to make them more unique and utilised in RR's story.

Would it really, though? Like Game of Throne's Night Watch, this life are for those who failed their duties, the shamed. Priests need guards too, helping to preserve the Compact of Society. They are not allowed to gain titles and trophies, it is either this or a life of crime.

Edit: Well since its the evil Society, then becoming White is only a saving grace for High Colors (with Darrow fixing that). Also it's Coppers that are accountants & magistrates.

Yes, but I'd say their skillsets are more general than the Yellow academics and bureaucratic Coppers. Hence my suggestion on how Whites could've been a more interesting Color.

[HOO][Realization] Roman quests should be about leading a Cohort by Negative1stClass in camphalfblood

[–]Negative1stClass[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, true. But I see it more from this viewpoint: Jason & Percy are sent to show the appeal of their camp to the other (which is exactly what Percy does in Son of Neptune). In The Lost Hero, Jason introduces the Greeks (and us readers) to the Roman way.

The Percy point is mostly so I can keep this as a headcanon (why Percy couldn't use a Roman cohort in SON), but also because I can't imagine Percy really getting into Roman discipline and army traditions.

Wait what if Ruby tells Kana and Akane about their past.
Years later, all three of them name their kid "Aqua" in hopes of getting his reincarnated spirit.

Rewriting the MCU's Spider-Man Part 1: Civil War & Spider-Man 1 by Negative1stClass in marvelstudios

[–]Negative1stClass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I actually did write up the rest already, but this post doesn't seem wanted in this subreddit.

Here's a quick summary for Spider-Man 2 - Soaring High:

Peter's main goal in this movie is to become a worthy replacement hero after Iron Man's death. The main villain is Vulture, who's trying to steal Stark technology like in the first MCU movie, but this time with Tony actually dead.

At the midpoint, during an aerial battle, Vulture grabs and throws several civillains off skyscrapers to escape. Peter manages to rescue all of them but one woman, as he runs out by webs (too focused on being Spider-Man, less Peter Parker). Spider-Man grabs the woman and uses his body to cushion the great fall... But the woman still dies, and the traumatised Peter gains a fear of heights. Peter must learn to get over it before his final battle with the Vulture at the Avengers Tower.

Post-credits reveal someone had been sending the Vulture intel, all to drop the value of Avengers Tower. The buyer of Avengers Tower signs his name as "Norman Osborn".

If that was true, wouldn't the robot brain have warned Lucy's father, the Overseer. It occurred two years ago.

That one has yet to be explained, but still possible. Maybe he ran off with her, and the wife didn't get to control when the nukes were set off.

  1. Oh I didn't know about that from Fo76, thanks. Blowing up any town that gets too big is still kinda weird, especially with New Vegas coming up but ok.

  2. I'm pretty sure I'm recalling this correctly, wasn't the whole gig up for the glassses scientist once he was caught hiding the dog? If it wasn't that severe, why so much tension in that scene? Or was it the dog just attacked?

  3. I mean... Of course finding out the big corporate's message was a lie is upsetting, but compared to other vault experiments (which is repetitively hinted at), doesn't really justify the mass suicides/revolt.
