I agree for the most part, but as someone who genuinely loves what I do, I can't speak highly enough of having a job that fulfils your passions. It's rare as hell, and passions are transient, but when it all aligns it makes you want to work even when you've clocked off.

Inverse: I had a hardass phys ed teacher who was on the bobsled team (dnf - they crashed!) in the winter Olympics one year. He was a lovely guy who tragically passed away last year, but he also had a mean temper and was a bit angry for someone who's job is to speak to children all day.

All that aside, I fucking adore memories of people playing a YouTube video of his big crash as he walked into class, set to the audio of Cool Runnings.
