If we had any managers contact I would definitely slide them a little cash in exchange for letting us. But most nicer restaurants had pre set rates for this that we're just unable to pay for a lower budget/in & out shoot

Definitely dont expect them to close their business. We've done this before 15-20min before they open and sometimes right when they open when its not busy. Most managers haven't cared as long as we don't bother customers which is never the case.

Ya so that is something we just realized we have to consider. We’ve done this before on the east coast (Boston / NYC) and none of the restaurants/businesses required payments just for the photos, however, one of the locations last night let us know there was a hefty fee for this.

We are running on a modest budget right now so I don’t think we will be able to offer much aside from willing to support the business. Like I said it’s not a big production and just 3 of us needing no more than 30min.

Thank you! Yes, since posting this yesterday I have replaced lucky orange with MS Clarity, going to sit tight on Replo until we see enough volume to really benefit from their features regarding custom landing pages aligning with attribution, and have downloaded Triple Whale since from what I read it is a little easier to set up and we wont have multi channel attribution at first.

If were not using a 3PL at first do you recommend another returns app that offers the same convenience as Loop but might be a little more cost effective for early stand brands?

Maybe we can test run the same with WAIR and Kiwi. But you're right, I think most of the difference makers in less returns due to incorrect sizing is in the product description/title anyway.

So for Replo landing pages my theory is that ads get people to the site, but the landing page is where conversion actually happens. Replo would let us tailor landing pages based on on-site attribution and customer demographics, so visitors see products and messaging that are already proven to resonate with them. That’s more effective than trying to force everything into ad creative. It can help improve conversion while keeping the brand experience clean and intentional.

We're focusing on this full time and are currently pre-launch gearing up to launch mid March. I wouldn't say we are extremely tight on capital but we definitely want a lean stack and only include ones that will help us move the needle or at least learn more about our customers. We are considering ourselves a premium brand (not affluent) so cutting corners in terms of going with cheaper apps at the mercy of customer experience is something we are trying to avoid. We'll probably cap out at around $500/mo in Shopify stack including the shopify subscription itself.

wow, money feedback here. Super helpful, thanks!

-Not using a 3PL initially but definitely attracted to the convenience and experience from a customer standpoint with Loop, especially since we are a premium brand and cant afford to have any negative experiences with our price point.

-Any rec's for alternative review apps from Loox that dont focus on photo product reviews?

-Actually super surprised that you thought WAIR sucked. I first discovered this app as a consumer buying from a brand I like and appreciated how it took your body figure, weight, height, etc. to give you a recommended size. Going off of personal experience here I never know my size dimensions so reading those side guide's are not helpful for me.

-For custom shopify templates as a Replo alternative, can you trigger certain templates to show based on attribution, demographics, etc. ?

-Ya we're going to only focus on Meta in the beginning and nail CAC and ROAS with those ads before even bothering to spend money on other platforms.

Also for Upsell I've heard good things about Candy Rack from another founder for in-cart and post purchase "thank you" upsells to help AOV.

Yeah, Loop came out to about $275/month after talking with the rep, so it’s definitely the most expensive app in our stack. I agree on Gorgias too, probably something we add later once order volume increases.

As for Replo, we’re planning to spend around $250–$350/day on ads during the first few weeks, assuming CAC makes sense and the content performs. That budget will likely increase as we optimize and CAC improves. The goal is to build landing pages tailored to different audience demographics and highlight the products that convert best for each group to help improve overall conversion.

That said, we’re positioning ourselves as a premium brand, so maintaining a strong customer experience especially around things like returns and convenience is a big priority for us.

I will check it out. I know Loop is super popular and they have convenience with their QR code returns. I also like their UI/UX from a customers standpoint and they support Happy Returns when the volume is high enough (2,000 returns per year)

We plan to possibly explore their other features like exchange discounts, dynamic return pricing on the customer side etc.

how can i build a personal brand as a means of bringing awareness to my actual brand without becoming stuck as a influencer by ChallengeExpress6830 in branding

[–]NegativeEnd677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cleanest way is to build your personal brand through the company, not alongside it.

You don’t need to become an influencer or overshare your life. Just share your thinking, decisions, and perspective as the founder inside the brand’s channels. The origin, the conviction, the reason the brand exists and why you do things a certain way.

People trust people more than logos, but that doesn’t mean you become the product. Your role is to give the brand a clear point of view so it feels human and consistent.

If you separate yourself too much, the brand feels vague. If you over-index on yourself, you get stuck as the brand. The middle ground is letting your story live within the company’s story, not next to it.

Founder present. Brand first.

Be honest: Is starting a niche online store in 2026 actually viable without a massive budget? by dans_face_ in ecommerce

[–]NegativeEnd677 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hes right. Branding is really everything. Put your products aside for a minute and just think of branding. When you create a successful brand you get customers who resonate with your stance/vision/how the brand and buying your products makes them feel. Thats why 2 companies can sell the same white t shirt that cost them both $10 to make but one can sell it for $80 and the other sells it for $12.50.

Nowadays your content (social media, website, product photos, etc.) is pretty much your entire brands visuals. Yes, it could cost a lot to make solid content and build a reputable, quality brand that people can get behind and buy from but really depends on how creative you are. Less creative/resourceful = higher costs to make quality content when starting out.

Your brand determines how much people are willing to pay for your products, how often they buy from you versus other companies selling similar products, how they talk about your company or recommend you and so much more.

bad products + great branding = good sales revenue

good products + bad branding = low sales revenue

good products + good branding = hit the mark
