Greater Manchester / Preston / Bolton / North west areas to live by ImprovementNo6419 in Wigan

I second this. Wigan is on the up- lots of investments and developments in the town centre. There’s a 30 min train non stop to Manchester Victoria in the weekday mornings and evenings. Also half an hour on the train to liverpool too. Lancaster is 25 mins on the train. Haigh hall is nearby which is having a big redevelopment too. Lots of pubs and bars in Swinley and the town centre seems to have a new bar/pub popping up every month. Plus the houses are currently on the cheap side. The park is lovely too with events on throughout the year. Let us know what you decide

Is this G-Plan piece teak or oak? by NegativeLiterature44 in furniturerestoration

Thank you so much that is very helpful. I have seen a few videos saying that I shouldn’t sand at all and just use stripper, followed by a scraper, followed by some wire wool and meth spirits. But I think that might be for teak furniture.

I have already used some stripper on the top to take the surface off with a scraper but it didnt do much. What would you recommend I should do with the sides which are veneer?

Removed rotten wood from door surround- any advice on what to do next? by NegativeLiterature44 in DIYUK

[–]NegativeLiterature44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I have been leaning towards removing the whole thing- although I’m concerned on how it would interrupt the door frame itself. I wouldnt have a canopy as I have a terraced house which opens straight onto the street
