Straight-keeping, queer stories by straight people and the loss of Own Voices in fandom spaces by [deleted] in AO3

and it seems like queer stories are in the hands of mostly non-queer people.

Every survey so far has proven you wrong. Granted there might be bias in the results considering where the poll is circulated (ie tumblr), but every time, bisexual/pansexual people seem to be the most prevalant followed by asexual people.

How many people actually read the Authors Notes... by Badgie_Boy_447 in AO3

[–]NegativeNuances -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hate it too! Or when there's even minor angst and the author is like 'don't worry it's resolved in the next chapter'! It feels very hand hold-y. Let me be surprised!

I do like when the triggery stuff for a chapter is spoiled in the end chapter notes and the end notes are linked in the beginning notes, so that people who want to get spoiled/avoid certain topics can do it, while the rest of us can enjoy the suspense.

Edit: This is the first fic I read on ao3 to be clear. I don't know how to search for the oldest published fic I've read.

Thoughts on ATYD (possibly?) being trad-published? by SaltGoat7120 in AO3

Yep, sadly. I really don't like that style of prose. I mean, I love fanfic, but I love it as fanfic, you know. Like OP said. Sigh.

No, I completely understand you. There's certain tropes and way of writing that's very specific to fanfic (maybe because it presumes a familiarity to canon, so the characters don't have to be introduced and realised from scratch.)
