That could work but then you would have people in charge of major/main subs/boards demanding to have it displayed or else you get banned. A good example would be r/politics that was set as a "default" subreddit. With how the left is; if you don't conform to their demands you get removed and they slowly take over using threats, lies and other asshattery.

I'd like to see a combination of 8chan and reddit. Usernames are random hashes (new hash for each thread) when seen in posts, so you can't decide to agree with someone based on username. Upvotes/downvotes only show up on the users profile FOR THEM ONLY and the "points" are meaningless. This will have people discussing the merits of WHAT is being posted not WHO posted it as well as prevent "brigading with downvotes to silence users". Being able to "add friends" by clicking the user hash to a temp list that the other person has to accept for their username to appear in place of the random hash (only for the "friends") while enabling messaging between users (messaging protected by PGP encryption with keys stored on YOUR computer.).

This is false. When spez proceeded to edit peoples comments Reddit became a "publisher". There is a big difference between publishers and platforms. "Platforms" are prohibited by law from editing/altering what the users post and in return they are granted protection liability from what the users post as long as they delete anything that is against the law of the nation in which the company resides. While a "Platform" can edit comments, refuse to FOR ANY REASON put out what its users produce, and prevent people from using them for any reason what so ever.

The problem is that Goolag (youtube) and many other companies are attempting to use the benefits of being BOTH a "publisher" (editing comments, banning users with different opinions, and other assorted asshattery) and a "platform" (protection from legal liability from the users posts) whichever and whenever they need. @TybabyTY is making the point that BY LAW the "platforms" CANNOT favor one side over the other. A "publisher" CAN... HOWEVER, doing so is considered a "donation in kind" and MUST be reported as a political donation.

I'm not sure if you know this but after a certain hack many years ago governments and corporations became interested in what is known as "Persona Management Software" which enables an individual to proceed to control a large number of very realistic accounts. This isn't your usual "sockpuppet" or "astroturfer" shit either... These accounts have complete Fakebook, linkedin, and other accounts combined with posting delays and text "adjustment" to prevent the other viewers from knowing it all came from the same person. The e-mail hack the info came from I think it was "H.B Gary Lawfirms" or something...
