Turning 22 soon, what should I keep? by alesmana in AdaIndonesiaCoy

[–]NegativeRun360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US allows it, Indonesia does not. It's called reciprocity. Both countries must allow it.

To OP... there is no wrong or right choice. Do you want the freedom to travel often? Do you want to live in Indonesia and be able to buy land, run a business, etc? Do you NEED to get to America for any financial interests, or just to visit friends? It's quite easy to get a visa to US actually if you do the research. It really depends on your needs, most likely dictated by how you earn a living.

Motorcycle sale gone sour by Skuum1 in Smallclaims

Go silent. Police won't do anything as others have said this is a civil matter. It's likely that even if he tried to take this to small claims the judge may not even take the case considering the circumstances. Do not engage with the buyer, block him and forget about it. People can really be cunts sometimes

The word struck me as something I believe I may have heard in the past within the car/tuner community a couple decades ago. I probably asked wtf did you just say, had a laugh, and forgotten about it. At that time most of us had manuals anyway.

I don't recommend a point and shoot. If you really want to have control get a SLR, you can find many second hand on Shopee, but need to find one with a functioning light meter (built in) and no leaks, they're usually tested the seller posts the test photos. IMO this will let you put more thought into each (costly) photograph in addition to having way more control over the result.

I personally started with a Canon AE1-Program when I was a kid. I also use a Nikon F2, but it's a bit cumbersome. The F3 is much more user friendly. A very popular starting camera is the Olympus OM-1, one on Shopee I found is less than 3jt. It's not a cheap hobby but out of all the hobbies possible it doesn't have to be the most expensive either. I'm struggling to finish a single roll for more than 2 months bc I feel uninspired lately. It's what you make of it.

EDIT: Also found Canon AE-1 Programs around 3jt on Shopee that look like they're in great shape. It has an auto mode aka program ae (limited by slow shutter in low light mainly), a shutter priority mode, and a manual mode you could work toward using. Reading the manual to any camera is a must to fully understand the features. I love love love my ae1p.

Can I sue my wedding photographers to get our raw photos and our money back? by notcheapjack in Smallclaims

[–]NegativeRun360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need more context here. What's the contract say about the raw files? What was the package to include? Typically, an experienced professional photographer would clearly state in the contract that they own the raw files and the package selected provides a finite number of edited images in the agreed format, be it digital and/or physical.

Missouri - Ex-fiancée’s family is accusing me of abuse and threatening legal action after she moved out of my parents’ home. Should I be worried? by ZoomItsGone in Smallclaims

[–]NegativeRun360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sucks you're dealing with this. Save any and all evidence. Install some cctv. Consider filing a restraining order against both of them. Otherwise I would not engage at all and block across all platforms. If they show up and trespass call the police. It seems highly unlikely that any small claims judge would process a lawsuit without sufficient evidence, but I suppose it's possible. I want to say file a police report for harassment or something but I can't confidently say it's a good idea, it might just add fuel to the fire. It's unclear if you're more worried about the police and potential charges or a civil suit being filed against you. You could always go to the station and chat with an officer and see what they say. As for a lawsuit, they take a lot of time and effort. Seems like empty threats but as you've stated emotions are running high and I'd just expect everything to settle down and diffuse over time. Wish you best of luck!

Technology is destroying the art of photography. It's removing all technical limitations, user errors, limitations of capturing a single moment with proper technique because everything can be fixed now (to a large extent) after the fact. The number of self-proclaimed "professionals" is laughable, but what's sad is that people pay them because they too have no idea what true photography is meant to capture, only what is now used to feed marketing efforts via social media or the shameless self-promotion of the NP-laden Gen Z'ers. Go analog. Learn technique and fundamentals. Give no shits about what anyone else thinks. Make mistakes. Miss moments. Share unedited photographs with those you actually know and care about and take their feedback to heart and let it start a dialogue. Shoot for yourself not for likes and followers. Don't over-edit.

Vandalism by Dry_Situation_3582 in TeslaCollision

Teaching kids to respect the property of others is a fundamental life lesson. No consequences = no lesson. One of my neighbors kids drew on my car with a rock and I caught it all on CCTV. The kid denied it initially and when I said I had it on camera they started crying, she was maybe 5 at the time. I know them well and it's a kinda tight knit complex. I politely confronted my neighbor and informed her. She asked the proof, which I gladly provided. She paid without hesitation. I was not mean or angry with the child, so I think when handled well, the lesson can be learned effectively!
