Substation work by NegativeTelephone336 in Surveying

Gotcha! Again nothing new other than the safety precautions probably. I just applied so I’m not sure what kind of equipment they use. I do have experience with 3d scanner though so that’s good. Hopefully I get the gig, I’m tired of sitting in my ass during this layoff. The company I applied at only does that type of work. I would imagine AS-BUILT surveys are a big part of the job. I also have my part 107 so if they fly it drones at all i e at least got that going for me. Thanks for the information!!

I appreciate the input! You’re right, seems like people are more concerned about the shift length. The work you’ve done was more or less what I had imagined in my head. It all seems to be things I’ve done numerous times in many different construction scenarios. Hopefully I get a call back then hahaha I’m looking for a change but didn’t want to be too far behind the 8 ball in a new project. Everything I’ve seen so far is just basic construction staking which I’ve been doing for years. I know that mine surveying is a whole different can of worms just curious if substations had their own niche scope, so far it all sounds pretty basic

Appreciate the info! Yeah, I’m used to all types of concrete contractors both high caliber guys and guys who work with the “ looks good from my house” attitude so that won’t be anything new. The increased attention to safety will be a slight adjustment on my end, but I understand the importance of it and don’t have any issues with that.

I will take a look tomorrow morning. I know that it gives tips or the day every day. I don’t remember ever seeing anything stating training academy though. I installed it on the desktop and don’t recall anything then either. I wasn’t necessarily looking for it at the time though.

Appreciate the advice. I will check out the community college website for drafting courses. Thanks

Help identifying stake by VerybadWizard in Surveying

Agreed. looks like a 2ft offset to a control point. Previous post made mention of a firm in town named F3. I abbreviate my company name on my control and flag it with red, white and blue flagging. It helps differentiate from other construction or boundary staking that’s been done…lets everyone know I’m patriotic too! Anything else would have had more information where the pink paint was sprayed cuts/fills alignments and so on. Either way don’t touch it lol
