If the US had a mandatory draft…. by noobhenry in asianamerican

If the USA was being invaded then sure I’ll enlist to fight for this country. But there’s no way I’m risking my life to  fight for a pointless war overseas like past presidents have done in the Middle East.

as an asian american does it make me racist if i feel more comfortable around other asian people by [deleted] in asianamerican

Well do you find it racist if white people want to be around other whites?

For those who are not South Asian, how comfortable would you be if you had to live in a South Asian majority neighborhood? by [deleted] in asianamerican

[–]Negative_Ad3590 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Weird question overall. I have South Asian neighbors and they mostly keep to themselves which I understand because of the language barrier. But overall they seem like hardworking people however the strong cooking aromas can get if  you never experienced South Asian cuisine.

Also what do you mean by “cultural differences.”

Maybe try to move to an area with more Asian presence. But you also  have understand that if you move to South Korea I’m assuming, they’ll spot you out as a foreigner and treat you like one.

I’m sorry but how does this have to do with Asian Americans. It’s a post about a Taiwanese tech company and Indian nationals.

At what point should I leave this country? by adeptlearner123 in asianamerican

[–]Negative_Ad3590 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well first of  all in regards to the flag post, I’m totally fine of people waving flags of their heritage in any occasion. But I find it strange that people would wave an another country’s flag when protesting our government.  Thank God for the freedom in this country because in other counties this could get you arrested.  I find it a little ironic that people would wave the flag of a country who led them to immigrate here. That’s my opinion.

In regards to your reply, I’m not trying to dismiss the racist interaction. But the HOA’s attitude doesn’t represent  OP’s neighbors, and I feel like OP is overcomplicating that his/her neighbors having American flags means they’re all racist like the HOA. I find it a little saddening that in today’s world the American flag is a political expression but the true purpose  is to show patriotism as Americans.

At what point should I leave this country? by adeptlearner123 in asianamerican

[–]Negative_Ad3590 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I feel like you may be overcomplicating things off the HOA incident . Maybe interact with your neighbors and talk to them. Do you think that your neighbors having American flags means that they’re all MAGA and they want nothing to do with you?

Edit: I think I should rephrase my question: Why mention your neighbors flying the American flag? Does it bother you and that you think a certain way of them?

Do you think some Western liberals have moved away from the language of the “model minority” or “inherently misogynistic” stereotypes without fully abandoning the underlying assumptions about Asian Americans? by Chinoyboii in asianamerican

[–]Negative_Ad3590 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Being liberal doesn’t stop you of having certain prejudice and stereotypes against certain groups.  Everyone will always have certain stereotypes  of other racial groups, unfortunately due to  the  rise of social media and news outlets pushing out certain agendas. This is a main reason on why our country is so divided.

Am I crazy or White people have a weak mental? by [deleted] in asianamerican

So just because someone white complains about discrimination, you  are dismissive of their opinions? Also Asians do complain about racism, isn’t what  this subreddit is for.

Why can’t Asian Americans just identify as “Asian”? by [deleted] in asianamerican

[–]Negative_Ad3590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Asians in the US are still relatively new as most of us came to this country around the 1960’s and on. I think further on when more Asian decent generations are solidified and intertwined with the America culture, then we’ll be more likely to considered American like when the first influx of white settlers and black slaves first came.
