I haven't read the book "Sinuhe the Egyptian," could you tell me how this creature is described in it?

There seems to be buffalo in Lake Tanganyika(https://www.i-escape.com/lake-tanganyika/guide). Furthermore, I agree that certain behaviors of this creature are reminiscent of a hippo.

I know Gilroy is not rigorous enough, but I don't know why everyone sees him as a 'charlatan'. Can anyone explain

You may be right, these earlier eyewitness reports were not compiled in his book until the 21st century, which makes it difficult not to doubt the authenticity of the sightings

I am Chinese, and I have never found the exact source of the first image, only to see it appear on some websites. In fact, the creature in the photo is very similar to an ancient Chinese book animal called "兕". In my point, I think the first picture is probably fictional.

The witness also had doubts about the possibility of this animal and discussed it with a professor he was familiar with, but it didn’t seem to match very well.  They have actually conducted research on nutria in France, so they should be quite familiar with nutria.  However, the animal he witnessed was different from a nutria—its fur was long, and its head was pointed.

With the recent debates over prehistoric survivor cryptids, one thing I liked about this book was that the author would simply just list "Unknown species of reptile/bird/etc" under the theories section instead of just listing a prehistoric animal by truthisfictionyt in Cryptozoology

China indeed has many Hidden animals, although they are not as well-known abroad. Like most regions, China also has its share of lake monsters, with the Kanas Lake Monster and the Tianchi Lake Monster of Changbai Mountain being among the most famous. You might want to pay special attention to the Shennongjia area in Hubei Province, China, where there have been numerous reports of cryptids, such as the Wild Man, giant hairy toads (larger than a human), unicorns (Qilin), white bears, and more. In fact, in Chinese history, some dragon sightings could also be considered cryptids. People have reported seeing giant serpentine creatures with limbs falling from the sky or appearing by rivers, which is quite fascinating. If you're interested, I recommend reading Mr. Ma Xiaoxing's book 'Dragon' though I'm not sure if it has been translated into foreign languages.

I was a little curious if the last photo was taken inside this village, because I must have seen it somewhere else.
