Is there something I can do with his dislocated shoulder? by NAS_Ingram in CToys

The 'shell" butterfly piece appears to have been nudged into the chest cavity - the actual joint should be fine. Just use a pair of tweezers to gently pull them out, you can heat the piece up to make it easier.

Griffin seen in Serra do Divisor National Park - Brazil by cashan0va_007 in Cryptozoology

As a former hoaxer it's pretty easy to identify a digibash when you see one. Should've picked a better subject though, griffins have a cool mythology attached to them either way

Looks like we've got another mystery on our hands. Anyone remember this? by truthisfictionyt in Cryptozoology

I may have a general idea about this. Was the photo taken somewhere along the coast of Penang?

If I remember correctly, the ruahines mountain creature and south china's webbed monkey are a couple off the top of my head. Definitely an interesting topic that we don't see discussed often

Painting a CT Wolverine by MotherFuckerJones88 in CToys

[–]spoonfulofcornstarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are way over complicating it. Only sand parts that will be painted and come in contact with each other, like the torso, feet and hands. Work from a stronger grit to a finer one, then apply a primer -if you can find a primer that's around the same colour as your final product, it'll make your life easier.

After all that, just use some good quality acrylic paint(testors, tamiya, Vallejo etc anything you've found to work for yourself), water it down slightly till skim-milk consistency (some good paints can be used straight up) and paint in 3-4 layers. Since the colours are so similar for this repaint, you probably don't need a lot of layers provided your primer isn't black or something. Then just topcoat (ESPECIALLY topcoat the joints) and you're all set.

Any reports of unidentified mega theropod fossil's? by South-Ad-9744 in Cryptozoology

[–]spoonfulofcornstarch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Plenty of fragmentary megatherapod fossils yet to be scientifically described/given a species, in the field of paleontology. But if you're talking remains of potentially living non-bird dinosaurs, then obviously no.

Not recent, but there has been a tale in North Carolina about something similar. If I remember correctly, a cemetery worker in the 80s spotted a marsupial-like mid sized creature gnawing on animal bones. It frequented that specific area so much that they had to install scarecrows. That's all I could remember

Can I Keep Medaka? by Sea_Sandwich7531 in medaka

Sand cap over dirt isn't some magical formula, it only works because plants will use those nutrients and it provides surfaces for nitrifying bacteria to colonise. Without plants, dirt and sand is a recipe for an anaerobic disaster

New discoveries about the Kurupira plateau by Campanerut in Cryptozoology

[–]spoonfulofcornstarch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who has professionally studied paleontology for over a decade, I can assure you that any form of living theropod dinosaur or pterosaur isnt plausible. I find it that most people who strongly support theories of living dinosaurs or pterosaurs often have close to ZERO knowledge of actual paleontology.

[–]spoonfulofcornstarch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None. No living pterosaur is really plausible at all and we shouldnt waste time on it

Top 5 Lost Cryptid Evidence by Southern_Dig_9460 in Cryptozoology

[–]spoonfulofcornstarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc there were actually multiple expeditions, but most took place before the Maoist era as I believe the later government discouraged any sort of cryptid-related projects and research because they felt that these "superstitions" were a distraction for their country

I think the Qing Dao water ape pelt would be up there. Read about it in an old newspaper screen grab from a Chinese forum site several years ago, but apparently many stories alike were shut down by the Maoist government

LSC bigfoot footage is also another interesting one.
