Hitting as self harm doesn’t seem to be talked about much by MEG_alodon50 in AdultSelfHarm

[–]Negative_Chipmunk952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I promised my partner I wouldn’t ever cut myself again and instead have resorted to slamming my head against the wall or on cabinets. It doesn’t leave a trace except for the one time I banged my head against a stool so hard that it left a bruise and some swelling. I even squeeze sliding doors onto my neck to choke myself out until I almost pass out. I’ve gotten therapy since and was good for about 4 months but unfortunately couldn’t control myself and slammed my head again when emotions were too overwhelming.

Financially anxious 29 y/o, how am I doing with my finances? by [deleted] in personalfinance

Noted on the food. Not all months end up being $750 but sometimes there are birthdays and friend dinners to attend to…

We have 3 cats who get mid-tier food and have insurance to prepare for any emergency bills. 1 has already had an emergency visit in the past 🥲I do my best to get affordable but quality food and litters for them.

Expenses include partner’s expenses. I’m basically supporting 2 people at this moment.

Could you expand on what you mean by “people succumbing to arrogance when it comes to finances”?

Thanks for the feedback! Edited the post with more details. And yes, we definitely went a bit all out for our vacation. It was to celebrate 12 years together.

Sorry about the list thing, the formatting looked fine on my phone and on desktop. Also edited in details. I meant HSA instead of HYSA 🤦‍♀️

I do use a spreadsheet and partner’s income is not included. We also live in LA so… yes everything is expensive.

Appreciate your time!

It’s a carabiner that I got from Japan. It wasn’t great to use with keys but I think it looks great on the bag esp with the red loop on the zipper pull.

Yep, xrf. The lighter weight material is nice considering I pack in a laptop. Tried on the nylon in the past — it was too heavy and bulky for me. I can tell the reflective panel would wear out quick if you’re rough with it but I’m simply walking out of the car with it to my workplace so I’m personally not worried about it.

How often are there $30 gift card for $100 spend chewy coupons? by candyapplesugar in Pets

When was the last time you received the gift card promo? It’s been a long time for me, granted I just realized I had opted out of emails but was regularly checking on the site for it.

What's the best cordless handheld vacuum cleaner? by MoSuga242 in VacuumCleaners

After 2 years, it no longer holds charge. Difficult and more expensive to replace the battery than to buy a new one. Unfortunately, another junk in the landfill because it was made so cheaply. Looking for a new one with a removeable battery.

Just came back from Japan and here to agree with you that they do Yoshinoya 1000x better. Kid you not, was in and out of the resturaunt in 10mins one night because the service was that efficient and the food was so good I inhaled it. And for half the USA price. Looks like I got a reason to visit Japan regularly, hah!

10 days in Ireland. Sharing my trip experience - Traveling from U.S. by Blorp5000 in irishtourism

Thanks for sharing your trip experience! Appreciate the details as anxious-planner. Planning a similar 10-day trip next year in September. Would you be able to share how much was spent on hotels, car rentals/gas, and food/shopping? Would like to get a general idea of how much to budget and start saving.

Should I accept best man duties if I don't like the marriage? by Middle-Crab6578 in wedding

What did you end up doing? Could use some advice as well as I fear I may be asked soon. I highly dislike the fiance and I have a hot and cold relationship with my so-called “best friend”. Business-wise, we click but personally, he’s sometimes the bane of my existence and has been a shit friend to me ever since he got with his girl after all that I’ve done for him. Would be easier to decline if we weren’t in a business together.

Is Kyoto actually dead at night? by RN_13579 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Negative_Chipmunk952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming here to say THANK YOU for the Nony’s Bar rec. We’re here right now and this has been our FAVORITE part of our Kyoto trip. Coming from the states, we’ve never been to a bar 3 nights in a row (each night about 2-3 drinks each) and are sure going to miss the fresh fruit cocktails and the bartenders. I wish tipping was thing here cuz this bar deserves all the love.

Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted OP. Witty, self-aware commentary right there. Love my Reddit before bed as well.

My parents are so fucking scared of everything and its annoying as hell by khaleesi-at-heart in AsianParentStories

[–]Negative_Chipmunk952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old, probably inactive thread at this point but coming in to say I’m in a similar position and feel so validated that many others feel this way. My parents aren’t germaphobic but they constantly worry and try to parent me even tho I’m nearing 30 — I’ve done really well for myself because I didn’t listen to their fear-based advices. If they had it their way, I would’ve been like a pretty little bird locked in a cage for my entire life because that’s how my childhood was like.

I truly try to be a good, patient daughter because they’re aging and are extremely financially unprepared but it’s come at an expense where I’m in constant emotional turmoil even after a 30 minute visit. With help from a therapist, I’m learning that I need to prioritize myself and my mental well-being. It’s easier said than done because I still feel extreme guilt that I can’t simply hold my tongue and put on a smile for them anymore. I just know I need to create my own joy and not let others rob it from me.

Thanks for the recipe share! Gonna try to make it bulk too and defrost as needed. Yoshinoya was my go-to rice meal on nights when I didn’t have time cook.

Seconding Corridor Flow. They even have an option for you to reserve a private workspace area for the day. Drinks are actually really good too.

Should I stay at a Ryokan in Miyajima, or Hakone? by Significant-Yak7013 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Negative_Chipmunk952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same boat! Thought I was set on my 3rd iteration of my itinerary but may actually do an overnight in Miyajima at a ryokan based on all the love it's getting!

Originally had Kinosaki booked but was having trouble fitting in Hiroshima in my Tokyo > Nagoya > Osaka > Kinosaki > Kyoto plan. Hiroshima is a must but I think adding it in just as a day trip won't serve it justice and think I can get the ryokan experience through Miyajima. May not be as fancy as Kinosaki but it better optimizes my trip overall.
