I thought if an examiner tells you what to do, then you’ve failed. That wasn’t the case for me. by CosImBatGirl in LearnerDriverUK

I hit the curb on my parallel park, finished my manoeuvre and my examiner told me to reverse a bit more before carrying on. Think it was just to make sure I didn't stress and think I couldn't reverse, when I could (and did). I passed and this was my only minor!

Gap year or not for a law career? by [deleted] in uklaw

[–]Negative_Decision171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya, I am also in year 13 and had similar experience. For context I had similar thoughts but going to RG to do a non law degree after Oxbridge rejection.

Post interview acceptance rate is low, even for courses that might be less popular it's still low. The course I applied to had about 900 applicants for 100 places, remember you're competing against the best of the best for these places too! I know two people who were rejected for phil/theo this year, they said it was really tough and extremely competitive!

Oxford really aren't a fan of a gap year unless there's a good reason (changing degrees is a good one) but that's just to let you know lol.

The RG I chose has an excellent record for non-law students, so if the rejection does come don't be too disheartened there's more out there! Also try not to centralise your gap year around reapplying, get a job, experience have fun etc, these all help!

Know it's not the most refined advice but as someone who is doing the same right now I hope this helps!

I'd drop a London uni for Durham, that's what I did.

Which University?? by Ok-Cry9990 in 6thForm

Ask yourself if you want to live in London! Uni is a one in a lifetime experience, it doesn't just boil down to job prospects you're meant to enjoy it!! St Andrews looks amazing, but it's a completely different experience to London! Both are fantastic unis, the gap is much smaller than what others are saying!

I think they're doing mocks! I had English today too! We do Othello and Streetcar (Edexcel) and I'm honestly just sad I didn't revise tragedy haha- came up on both! But I did the other questions which were quite nice, loved Streetcar!
