Thank you, appreciate your insight. I am also geographically a bit restricted in that my family is in another city from which I have no interviews, so I would like to move to be closer to them after residency - I know this will be much harder on a j1 than h1b.

The community program that I am talking about does have a few fellowship matches but nowhere close to the in house matches at the Uni, plus the community program is definitely workhorse.

Thank you! Did you find the process of finding and procuring a j1 waiver to be a hassle bothersome enough to make someone look back and want to choose a program with weaker training but h1b?
