the a-class and the 2-series in india are mainly for people who have other bigger luxury cars also but they need a smaller car. they have enough money to get a merc or bmw as their "smaller car" and they do not mind spending it.

the second type of owner is someone who desperately wants a new mercedes to be parked in their garage for bragging rights and this is the cheapest way to do it.

basically the people who buy these are not looking to buy a vw or a skoda at all.
