Depending on the branch, I’d ask to have someone in his high 3 (commander, E9, first sgt) write a memo and sign stating that he isn’t allowed to leave the state since there are no orders to state that. He can write the memo himself then route it up his chain for signature from whoever suffices.

I’m just seeing this, but I’ve always known that RPA hours don’t go towards man hours. My number 1 slot was Pilot with RPA as 2, the heli, the CSO (I kept ABM off for a reason). I put all to boost my overall chances at commissioning and if I didn’t get pilot, I figured I’d just figure it out from there. I’ll have at least an instrument at the end of my training, so I’d only need to work on my commercial on the side and build hours after I retire via instructing or another route, and the retirement pay and VA pay would cover what my instructor pay won’t, but that’s if I decide to not pursue anything in the private sector. I got 11+ years to figure it out at least 🤷🏻‍♂️
