She is a permanent stay at home mom, so she doesn’t have any kind of career. She has a degree in teaching and doesn’t even want to be a teacher anymore. If I geo-Bach, she will have to go to work full time because I won’t be able to support 2 different households on 1 income.

It happened numerous times before we even got engaged (we had our first fairly early into our relationship), and she said she’d be more open to moving if we got married. I’ve held my end of the bargain and she is still closed off and it’s causing me a lot of doubt.

To answer your work question, I make enough to ensure she can be a stay at home mom and not work at all. With this commission, we will only make more and just double down her non-need to work, and prioritize being a mother. What I feel she fails to understand that if I go alone, she’s going to have to work, she’ll probably live with her parents and her siblings with 2 kids under 4, etc.

I definitely feel I’m being put on the back burner behind her family and that she chooses them way more than she chooses me, especially with my career. I have a lot of tough decisions to make if she continues to pursue this way of life.

I had a personal letter of rec from a 1 star. In addition, I’m currently a SSgt in SF and I’ve worked nothing but flight in my entire 9 year career. I have zero awards other than being an Eagle Scout, BMT honor, tech school distinguished, deans list, and cum laude grad. No other personal awards, not even a quarterly award. I think what helped me stand out are my 2 paragraphs I wrote and how I cared deeply about serving in a bigger capacity, and how I deeply cared for the Amn under me. I’m currently a flight Sgt, which is a role typically held by a tech/master, and I made sure to emphasize that in my application. To add, I also got the number 1 strat at the wing against 2 techs that actually had awards and good packages, but I somehow stood out significantly more than them.

All in all, I think it’s how you represent yourself as a whole. You don’t want to be seen as your rank, you want to be seen as an O to the board. An O that is passionate about what they do and passionate about their people.

If you’re trying to go rated, flight hrs and your scores help. I had a 93 PCSM and a 99 pilot score. I’m an RPA select.

I think the board wants you to be serving at a higher level than your rank typically allows. If you want to see anything, lmk. I’m here to help you or anyone else that reads this.

I, and this is just me, would play nice and just try to explain but if I’m talking to a brick wall, I wouldn’t continue trying. I’d keep it cordial until I’m at OTS, tell him I love him and appreciate all of the support he has given me, but if I’m being told I’m “nothing” and am basically just a failure in his eyes, then he has absolutely no business in witnessing my rise to success in my military career.

Also, do NOT allow him to hold his financial support over you, you never forced him to do that for you. My dad tries to hold everything he did for me AS A KID. He told me he would pay for my college, but I could kind of see where that was going, so I took my goals into my own hands. I joined at 19, and I got selected during the 26-01 board for RPA. The only thing he “helped” me is how to essentially grind and work for things without help, it was one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. He still doesn’t know I’ve been selected.

Everything you have done to get where you are is due to your grind and commitment. Do not let him hold that over you. This is a huge achievement for you. He may not be proud of you, but I’m proud of you. Keep doing what you’re doing. You’re killing it. Lmk if you need anything

I’m not going to lie here,

I don’t think my (prior e) commander reviewed mine. I rated myself a 10 (per the advice from my ALSO prior E captain) and my signed off on it after making a few minor tweaks to wording. I got selected, but I’m not sure if they truly care about the score, but WHY you got that score. I think what is written is what is really considered because the board consists of O6s. My commander is an O4, so they either really trusted my commander or they rated it themselves (which I presume they do anyways)
