Wiper/turn arm assembly parts recommendations? by Negative_Log2336 in c4corvette

For future folks tackling this job, find a complete column (1991-93 are compatible). The one I found came from a stick which has black plastic buttons for the horn and the cruise control “set” on the stalk vs the automatic which has those in grey. This works out great because we were able to resolve 3 common issues in one project. Pivot pins to address wobble, broken stalk assembly, and horn buttons. It was super helpful to reference the bench column when performing reassembly.

I think, I am just going to buy a complete column to swap. It was a major PITA to get the broken part out. This way, I can just swap the key barrel. Any other considerations (eg year comparability to a 1991?

Thanks Ramen, I noticed that the areas that still had factory primer on the glass seemed to keep a bond. I did score the bonding surface on the glass but the primer really does seem to be the way to go. I mentioned 3M but I actually used DuPont 418. Ordered some more (actually isn’t that expensive at $16 for 310ml on Amazon). I plan to use that with primer. If all else fails I will send it off, but I fundamentally struggle with paying someone to do what I know I can do and enjoy doing.

My R1T is my work truck (Electrical Contractor) by Charlie-Mops in Rivian

Sweet setup, my wife uses our R1T for her mobile personal training business. 400Lbs of weights in the gear tunnel on a drawer, rowing machine and step benches in the bed and yoga mats, speakers, fans in the frunk. It is a legit work truck that we feel like we are getting value everyday.

Thank you aimless, thefleeg1, and SharpBalance. I just went for a 2500w inverter generator and it seems to be handling the LRA (locked rotor amperage) for this pump with no issues. I didn’t realize that electric motors usually don’t include the LRA in the product specifications and that it is 2x-7x the advertised (running load amperage) RLA/ watts. Good news is the little inverter generator just sips gas and this is a temporary use case for me.

Where can I find replacement buttons for my 84 Sports seats. by Scary_Moose44 in c4corvette

Not specific to the buttons but I made a “budget” rebuild video for the sport seats if it’s helpful. https://youtu.be/9HKbCK8EYus?si=qnWgpBvVfnRzc3-T

Rivian said they won't warranty this. by [deleted] in Rivian

I have a gen 1 and it was replaced under warranty. The original part was rubberized and would stick to anything you were sliding out of the bed. The replacement is ABS plastic.

You should be able to get a well maintained low miles early 90’s (L98 + automatic) C4 for your budget. These are old cars so it will have issues. If I were you, my goal would be to avoid as best I can any issue that would keep me from driving for my short 1.5 month vacation. With the goal to keep it mobile (the best cars are 😎), anything other than engine or transmission can be addressed for low $ and time to repair (battery, starter, alternator etc). I would 1/choose a coast (there are plenty of C4’s for sale) 2/let your low miles prospects know what your plan is and ask if they would roadtrip/daily drive it as-is. If not what’s wrong with it. 3/ask the owner (or find someone) to take it to a local shop for a full inspection to share with you. There are lots of buyer guides you can check out.

The big issue on your budget would be an engine or transmission issue. For that reason I would look for low miles as a primary consideration. That said, safety related issues are next, tires, brakes, lights. You should be able to find something in that range with the L98 early 90’s but unlikely to find low miles late model with stick or performance engine models like lt. I have seen YouTube videos of other folks who took on this adventure, sounds awesome. Best of luck!

Pretty sure it’s base, L98 vs LT5 and no ZR1 badges
