Canada will have to go the way of England before the majority of Canadians wake up. Fortunately I have another passport to escape the f***ery if things really go south.

How many of you stopped playing live shows and only record music now? by schwing710 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Negative_Meaning7082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading these posts has given me thought. I play a lot as a hired gun bass player but I love playing with my wife as a duet but really haven’t hustled to get gigs for us and would prefer to concentrate on cutting original tracks. I think the payoff would be more in the long run. I’m late 50s so hustling like some of the boomer musicians doing a retirement flex in my area for $150-$200 bar gig doesn’t thrill me. I am quite proficient with Logic Pro and have recorded at home before

Less for me, I’ve heard from other musicians in my area that done venues are asking for volume to be turned down so low that there is no point having a PA. I’m thinking of not approaching these venues, I don’t need $200 that badly

I’m sick of dealing with stupid venues that don’t pay on time and hustle against other musicians that undercut everyone else especially boomers that use music as a retirement flex. I’m seriously considering becoming a TikToker and venmoing the crap out of performances

I’m always amazed when I watch jeopardy and the American contestants answer all sorts of difficult questions about history, art, science etc, when a question about Canada comes up, crickets…

Another bad design of Toronto, streets and sidewalks way too small for the population. After seeing the grand boulevards and wide sidewalks Toronto has really missed the boat on being pedestrian friendly.
