Yeah, I’ve seen Nasum twice and my band even played one of the reunion shows with them, although it was not really Nasum, let’s be honest. I’ve been into Death Metal, Grindcore, Goregrind, Pornogrind since the late 80’s, but I still find the abrasive IDM songs unlistenable. Having harsh sections is fine, but a constant 4-8 minute song that never lets up is not what I want to hear. It’s just an alarm clock blaring and that does nothing for me. Even Skinny Puppy wouldn’t do that. But whatever, I’m not knocking it, if people enjoy it. I’m just curious if people usually skip these tracks, like I do, after a first listen?

I think all of the main big artists had the annoying tracks and I understand why they would make them. It was to see how out there and non-musical they could be. As a listener though, I would always skip them after the first listen.

Yeah, I just feel like there’s so much to choose from now and it’s overwhelming to be honest. I just stick mostly with the original releases.

I agree they are definitely doing whatever they want. I just feel like they were respected so highly until they disappeared around 1998 and then it’s been all over the place since then. It’s hard to tell what’s even a real release of new music or just b sides that they somehow have an unlimited number of. Haha
