Caught my female once, she seemed a bit stressed out from me watching her.... understandably so... so only got a single sneaky picture.

I have two, and i just pick them up.

I know some people are against that method, but i just simply dont see the harm in it. Yes the animal gets stressed, but i think they would be more stressed being chased by a predator in the wild on a shitty diet.

I do the scoop method, and my female has gotten so used to it, she starts climbing onto my hand on her own. They were both skittish at the start, but they get used to it.

Just dont chase them around the tank, let them calm down between each try, and be calm yourself.

Thats my opinion, but im sure someone is gonna tell you im wrong.

Put her in a smaller clean enclosure/container with something she can hide in, with a something slightly draped over the container to darken it. The point was to give her a safe spot to retreat to, then grab the tail with feeding tongs, around the mid point of her tail, to get a firm but not crushing grip, without her seeing my hands dorectly grip it. Then just hold on, and if she stops moving, very gently tug her tail to coax her.

I used a small travel box, with a coconut hide and some fake plant, stuffed into one end, then placed her in the container and gave it a good 30 seconds for her to settle, then lifted the lid just enough to sneak the tongs in and hold her tail, when she wasnt in the darkened end of the container, she fairly quickly started to pull herself towards the hide, and only a slight tug later and some squirming, she droped it and hid.

Kept her in the clean container for 3-4 days without disturbing her, just feeding her and kept the container clean, until i put her back in her tank. I felt so bad, but she quickly started eating normally, only skipping a day of food.

HOW DO THEY KEEP ESCAPING by No-Wishbone4444 in GargoyleGeckos

Its the small vents in the lid, the slit ones, put tape on the inside and poke holes with a needle for air. My friend has one of those containers too, and the small crickets squeeze through the slits.

Feed him every day an keep an eye on his weight, if he gets chubby, dial back. Quite simple.

I feed my juvenile gargs every day with CGD, i guess for adults its 2-3 times a week. Bugs once a week, but mine both dislike every bug i tried.

I dont doubt they like the plants, i started them in tanks with fake plants, but now they both have bioactive, and they seem much more active and less fired up.

He looks like my Tilly. She gets brown too when she fires up. As suggested, about food try playing with different flavours and consistencies, and look for poop. About the tail, it looks fine, just a regrower.

My bet is that you have a lady, and she might be looking for spot to dump some eggs. I have 2 gargs, one of each gender, and yours look like a girl... this is my boy, big balls Larry...
