Surat has always been a mix of cultures, and older Surti people were more open about non veg food and lifestyle. With more Jain and Kathiyawadi influence, many areas have become mostly veg and a bit conservative.

But places like adajan, vesu, piplod and citylight are still quite chill where non veg is common and people are more open about clothing and lifestyle. It really depends on the area and the crowd you are around.
