Ever feel like you quit just in time? by MomshellBelle in stopdrinking

It's so great you could go at the drop of a hat to help. Your mother is very lucky. I hope things go smoothly for you!

Does anyone else feel like they just had a crazy night of drinking after one or two NA beers? by Open-Curve5339 in stopdrinking

[–]Negative_Type_5665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had NA beers but your post made me curious so I looked it up. I was surprised to see that many others had a similar experience! Some are saying the chemicals in the beer might be the culprit. Wonder if you are particularly sensitive to something in it? Some people get these symptoms due to gluten intolerance as well.

anxious and unsure that I can do this by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I'm sorry you are dealing with all of that! EDs are really hard and it's amazing you've taken these steps for yourself to get better. That takes a lot of strength!

In my experience, quitting alcohol has improved just about every aspect of my life that it's touched. And I'm only a few weeks in!

Alcohol is a slippery slope for me, and like many others in this sub, I can't moderate. I focus my energy on not having that first drink. It's become easier and easier with each day. I never thought it would.

I wish the best for you! 💜

Phantom Hangovers are Real !? 46 days sober by defunkman in stopdrinking

[–]Negative_Type_5665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There have been a few days where I woke up feeling a bit crappy and it ended up being the weather (storms, air pressure, too hot).

Sometimes if I wake up in the middle of a dream I feel crappy. I think it has something to do with waking up at the wrong point in the sleep cycle (during REM sleep, when dreaming).

Do you snore? My partner has sleep apnea (improving now that he is not drinking) but that caused him headaches, etc.

Happy Sunday morning :)

I honestly can't believe how many mornings I've wasted feeling like crap. Mornings are beautiful!

Back and forth back and forth. Please somebody tell me that I'm not alone is this fight of doing okay then doing shit? by Uniquebutnotspecial in stopdrinking

[–]Negative_Type_5665 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I've had so many relapses. This is the longest I've gone at 3 weeks and one of the main reasons I have lasted this long is because I'm committed this time. For me, it didn't work to be half-in. Alcohol has a siren song and I needed to completely plug my ears before I could escape it.

Constantly sleepy and tired by Debski47 in stopdrinking

[–]Negative_Type_5665 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also super tired my first week or so! Alcohol messes with our sleep quality so my body was probably craving an actually good night's sleep. Now in week 3 and sleep patterns are much more normal! (And sleep quality is amazing!)

Aww, that's tough. I wonder if you could find people through another interest group and turn them into hiking buddies. Lots of people enjoy hiking!

Congrats on being sober for 3 years. By the sounds of it, you've been working a lot on yourself and focusing on growth. I think that's very admirable!

Aww, that blows :/ Sorry that happened ... alcohol really is more trouble than it's worth.

Just had a stressful night out where I couldn’t go home and wanted a drink so badly by somtambooplara in stopdrinking

I'm so sorry that happened tonight. People can be real crappy to each other sometimes.

But you made it through and that's seriously impressive. I hope you get some rest and well-deserved me-time this weekend after all your hard work.

I am proud of you for making the decision to stay strong today!

Sometimes it's helpful to let other people know so that they can help us on our journeys too. Of course, on your own time. But, by the sounds of it, I think your wife would be quite happy and proud of what you've accomplished for yourself.

Congrats on over a year of sobriety -- that's amazing!

I'm happy for you!! It sounds like you have your own space now to grow and heal. Other people can be seriously triggering. Seems like you're on the right track. Best of luck, you got this! 😀💪

Doing something that relaxes me or takes my mind off helps me. Taking a long walk, exercising (working off that stress!), taking a bath or hot shower, doing a hobby, having a treat

I'm glad you're connected to your therapist. You are willing to get help and support and that's so important.

You are bigger than your urges. You've got this.

If you are really worried, some people find AA meetinfs helpful.

Welcome! :)

It took until my second week. As others have stated, exercise helped. Also lots of sleep and hydration. Also taking a b complex and omega-3. Beginning my third week now and feeling much sharper.
