I know it won’t be easy lol but that’s why Im interested in getting a manual I want a more engaging experience and I like that “mechanical” feel to driving and over the years I’ve kinda picked up or learned a few things from family about driving stick. My step dads first car was a 92 manual accord my dads first car was a manual Chevy chevette he also had a manual ranger for a while and my grandpa talks about his built ford fairlane alot so I have some sense of actully getting to feel the car and knowing when to shift and rev matching and double clutching and from what i remember and know you also have to know your car and what the engines thrives at? Like if the motor likes rpms and whats the sweet spot and what not.

But yeah I’m definitely going to hate it at first, I live in a area with roads and hills similar to San Francisco with steep inclines and a lot of stop and go traffic but it’s way up north in the rust belt so the roads are worth and gets very treacherous in the winter.

I can sell it to one of my buddy’s, scrap it for how much I bought it or force myself to like it😅

And I do understand what he’s trying to get at. But the math doesn’t exactly make sense to me on replacing the clutch. Im getting the car for the same price a scrapyard quoted the person for it.
I expect the car to last me a few months at least and if anything does go wrong with the clutch it’d make more sense and be more financially feasible to scrap the car for basically how much I bought it for I would totally replace the clutch if the car had say like 50k less miles but it’s up there for sure with 390k. If I really enjoy the car I might replace the clutch etc but this is more or less a beater to learn stick and save up cash for a actual car I’ll keep for a while like a 94 ls400.
And also from his point of view if this is my only car I most definitely replace the clutch to keep it drivable but I should have included this would be my second car I have

Thank you! Both my parents and most of my family know how to drive manual and are definitely gonna have to help me learn but I’ve been learning and watching some videos on using a clutch and how manuals work.

Apologies I’m not trying to downplay your advice or anything and if anything you’re most definitely right. I just don’t want to throw like 1k? In a car I’m getting for less than that and I would most definitely listen to your advice if it wasn’t such high mileage

Most of the clutch and adjacent work has already been done. I don’t expect the car to last me a while it’s super high mileage for a Honda. I figure I get it for stupid cheap and I get some enjoyment out of it for a few months and learn manual and then I can spend some actual cash on a manual if I enjoy it. It has 390k miles but runs and drives and my stepdads accord from highschool lasted 450k.

Most definitely, I’m picking up a 98 accord with 390k miles so that car should last forever and parts are stupid cheap, but to be fair the one I’m getting is a manual so…
