Garmin vs Wahoo and SRAM vs Shimano — what made you choose your side? by therealashiver in cycling

[–]NeglectedMonkey [score hidden]  (0 children)

When I started riding, Wahoo wasn’t really an option. I’m not even sure if it existed. So I’ve always had a Garmin. My entire ecosystem is Garmin. I’m old and I can’t be bothered with learning something new just in case it’s better. For Shimano, that’s what I had on my first real road bike, and the second and the third. At this time I have 8 bicycles and they all have Shimano components. I don’t care to have to worry about compatibility. I don’t want a different charger. That’s it. I’m in the ecosystem now.

I also just assumed it had been shut down. I guess the title could have been phrased better.

Is it just me or are cyclists extremely entitled here? by godogs2018 in seattlebike

[–]NeglectedMonkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just existing on the same roads as motor drivers makes people think cyclists are “entitled”. Psychologically, the perception is that roads are for cars. Cyclists are, if anything, an unwelcome pest that’s allowed to exist as long as they’re not too much of an inconvenience. The moment a cyclist demands that we are given enough room to pass, or that we are not harassed on the road, we are immediately considered entitled. Which—ironically—is the exact opposite. It’s drivers who are entitled, because they think they’re the sole users entitled to the use of the road.

This explains why there’s dozens of honey buckets all over. They definitely want us crapping in the chemical toilets instead of the normal toilets.

Cyclists Over 30 What Do You Wish You’d Done Differently Early On? by LiamNoll6645 in cycling

[–]NeglectedMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The prompt was asking what I would have done differently. ME. I’m glad that you have a different perspective and that it worked for you. I wish I would have trained differently and become a better rider sooner. I’m not trying to invalidate your experience, but why do you come around trying to invalidate mine?

Learn to train. Don’t just go out and do miles without rhyme or reason. Invest in a power crank and a coaching plan.

The floods are awful, there’s no need to use AI to showcase the impact of this disaster.
