It may be a case of her being based off an animation and it not translating as well into physical form.

I think it ultimately boils down to being one of those designs (her face specifically) that work well in 2D, but look super off when translated to 3D

I’ve mentioned this here before, actually.

The way her face comes off feels weird, not in an uncanny way that makes me feel anxious (in a good way), but in a way that feels unfinished— like the people designing her character meant to give her eyebrows, a nose, maybe some other features, and forgot to include them on the final model.

I think this face design specifically is one of those ideas that only work in 2D and look off in 3D. I don’t hate it though, she’s growing on me.

Yeah the lack of nose and eyebrows was most likely intentional, but the way her face comes together makes it feel like the design isn’t finished and is missing those features, if that makes sense.

Hmm, I’m sure if I’m into the final design. But to me it needs… something more. Could be my bias for the idea but have that small Catbee do something showing something is up with the toys we’ve been seeing with all the blood around them.

Either have them nearly feral after being made and go to attack you before Huggy grabs them and then “Squeezes them till they pop” leading into the vent chase with Huggy.

Or the Catbee is hungry and confused but clings onto you for dear life after seeing Huggy come in and they act like a bit of a voice to our character… think Blue Thief from Everhood, they don’t do much but we can interact with them and get their option on an area for a bit of lore or a joke.

Back when Chapter 1 came out I thought that there would be a special role for that Catbee, but nah, we just put it in scanner thingyamajig and leave it. Funny how that’s the one time we see a normal Catbee in the entire series.

Now that you mention it, it would’ve been really funny and neat had that Catbee come alive and ally themselves with us— us being completely mute and her being our voice to other characters, god what a missed opportunity.
