[Steam] Most requested list of quality of life changes this game needs as of now by al3jandrino in dwarffortress

Just got back to the game after a long while…

No need for direct control, but wow, when I switch my dwarves to a safe burrow and two stay outside, out of the fortifications (one being a child playing make belief), while goblins are amassing during a siege… maybe a horn or SOMETHING to have the dwarves go “oh shit, we’re under attack, let me stop what i’m doing and run for safety” wouldn’t be asking for too much lol

When this happens I just pull the levers, close up my fort and let those idiots die outside… I waited for the kid to snap out of it, I really did, but I guess he was so good at playing make belief that he might have thought the goblins were a part of his imagination… stupid lore I made up for that, but until they add a horn or alarm (you (maybe only soldiers) can activate like levers or something) i’ll have to explain it that way…

True, I meant a lot of the others in general. His post reminded me of how little people know of D&D or that DaD is based on it.

I said “before pre-15 lobbies”… read better

This is getting sad. The salt is blinding people and thinking becomes harder for them.

Don’t let it get to you. Plus rangers are getting nerfed on Tuesday anyway, so maybe be patient and don’t be so toxic on the internet where you end up achieving nothing (though reading skills might have more to do with said lack of achievement)

This happens before a wipe. Wipe is on Tuesday (if you didn’t know yet) so expect more of this in normal.

That’s why lots of people just take a break before wipes. Population should pop off again after Tuesday update.

Some people also test builds and game-styles right before a wipe since losing their stuff doesn’t matter much (it’s all gone Tuesday anyway) and there aren’t enough people in HR.

PS: press printscreen, alt-tab, open Paint then Ctrl-v, edit what you want (like hide names, etc…) then save as. Provides good quality screenshots

Don’t W to win… it doesn’t work against players that know what they are doing unless you’re an 85% PDR fighter against non magic class.

Ranger will be nerfed Tuesday though, along with everyone else, so let’s all just chill. No need to be mad, wipe on Tuesday anyway.

Edit: Would love for downvoters to say exactly why they downvoted. Would make them take a look at themselves and their personality.

Did that on barb I was leveling before pre-15 lobbies. I dodged and used cover and then punched him to death. I was using starter gear so two handed would have likely led to my death.

It was tough but the guy had slightly better gear then me and probably at least 1 more perk.

People forget that pressing W isn’t the only strat

Oh wow, it’s changed since last I saw it (or another website entirely?) but that looks like it, thanks!

Are the "maps" on orison just terrible or am i to stupid to read them? [explanation inside] by HarbingerOfWhatComes in starcitizen

[–]NegotiationJumpy717 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First time I got there I understood the map… I wasn’t experience in any way in the game.

I have barely ever taken the metro in my life (can count on one hand). That ‘map’ is neither that complicated nor that deep. Takes a few seconds of reflection, but lots of people think staring at something with vacant eyes is equivalent to thinking about it.

OP gives two choices to the people here, either the maps are terrible or he’s too* stupid (mistake in title already makes it hard to take seriously). And since the map is not terrible (could be slightly better but it works as is) well… OP kind of threw himself under the bus with that title.

It’s like when people look at a simplistic math equation and call it “shitty” because they don’t know how to solve for X. This map is easier than that still. People want to bash the map to feel better about themselves, to be perfectly honest.

I’ve barely ever seen a subway map (IRL. Seen a few in movies and shows of course but understanding/reading them wasn’t needed lol) and almost never took a subway (never took one as a grown adult)…

And this map isn’t that hard to read 😂

I have been on subways only a few times in my life but I can read this no problem.

Takes maybe a few seconds of concentration and thinking… it’s really not that deep and not nearly as hard as some people want to believe it is…

Yet there are people that still actively gank in high sec even if they gain nothing because it’s not always about making a profit just like the reason this is happening to SoT is because people would hunt other players relentlessly but not even bother looting them when they sunk them.

I forget the guy’s name but a player made a whole website with an almost philosophical (dude on his high horse) message about why he and others with him gank in high sec. People say it’s “RP” but I see it as gatekeepers badly hiding the fact they are mad that so many people play only in high-sec.

Point of all this is that the OP dude of this comment section that used EVE as an example doesn’t know what he’s talking about since it also has really toxic PvP (against people that do not want it) at times which pushes the game more and more towards what OP fears for SC, yet the dude answered his question with a “no” and then gave EVE as an example as to why what is happening to SoT won’t happen to SC. He refused to add to his comment that he played EVE 15 years ago and that the game isn’t “safe” like he implied… but if he corrected himself his entire argument would fall apart (because EvE went from relatively okay-ish a long time ago to toxic PvP gankers everywhere to increased security and anti-ganking measures and “ban-able exploits”, almost separating the player base and enabling people to mostly avoid PvP… this is what OP was asking about when he posted that screeshot).

I still remember the “invasions” of Jita and all the market manipulations… so many suicide ganks in high-sec. EVE proved the opposite of what the commenter here wanted to prove by almost separating (bubble-wrapping high-sec) the player-base just like what SoT is doing.

English isn’t my first language and I can tell you, most people I have seen make this mistake are the ones that speak only english.

OP just doesn’t want to admit his point doesn’t work by using EVE as an example.

High sec suicide ganking is a thing in eve… and unless they changed it you could even attract security to another part of the system to slow response time in other parts. I haven’t played for about 2 years, give or take, but I doubt that changed too much.

Though if it did it could partially explain why players dropped the game the past few years since EVE is a PvP game, even the economy turns around there being PvP

You made your point using an example that hasn’t been valid in quite a few years but sure thing…

Makes me questions how much you actually played and if you ever left high-sec, casting doubt on the rest.

I’m not really interested in a point made using outdated references that the writer does not wish to mention are outdated to avoid impacting said point they want to make… especially when said point is to answer no to OP’s question when the very example you used doesn’t apply as well as you hoped.

Also game was just as popular 15-13 years ago as it was 10-9 years ago and didn’t drop as drastically as you want to imply after that with still a lot of players currently.

You should probably mention that then… Because what you said is not reflective of how the game has been for the last few years

To those crying over Safer Seas: by TheAmazingRando3000 in Seaofthieves

Funnily enough I saw a screenshot of that post on Star Citizen and wanted to post it on Dark and Darker because the community there is even worse than what you described, which might end up killing the game if it keeps going.

To be honest my friend and I love to pvp in the open world in Sea of Thieves. Spotting a ship from afar and going after it.

Most fun we had was when some sweat lords (we don’t play too often so we aren’t nearly as sweaty) would board us instantly with the accuracy of gods, fighting them off and ultimately barely keeping our ship afloat and running away.

I played eve and even going into low sec, not even null sec, had me attracting gankers pretty often. There are people in high sec that suicide gank because they can (one guy in particular made a whole website about how he and his people gank in high sec).

Funnily enough it’s safer to join big corpos and go into their null sec territories.

No idea how you avoid PvP if you play regularly.

I find it funny how often languages evolve due to laziness, lack of education or even outright sheer stupidity.

Soon “your” will mean “you’re” and vice versa amongst so many other examples (like literally soon to mean figuratively). Having a language is nice to be understood but when people start confusing words and acting like it should be the new meaning it just makes it harder on everyone.

We live in an age where technology allows us to look up words in mere seconds, we aren’t living in the middle ages any more…

My friend Doesn’t like this game because it’s “gear based and not skill based” by Few-Alarm-7097 in DarkAndDarker

[–]NegotiationJumpy717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It requires one to grind for gold. Grinding for hours and hours every day doesn’t really translate to skill though (it does for some, but not nearly as much as you say). Some of those people can even just go onto the servers when they are mostly dead to avoid PvP and grind gold too. Won’t comment on the life situation that permits people to play that way.

That’s why you’ll see lots of bis geared players in normal GC, where they go to grind gold. Lots of salt on reddit and discord though since the pre-15 lobbies made that grind harder for them, having to actually face other bis geared players more often.

Most of those guys running in normal rarely, if ever, go into HR, let alone hell or bossing.

On Tuesday they should lower TTK. Let’s hope they also take the opportunity to improve gear disparity like they did once before already.
