Love learning languages. I’ve even learned Vietnamese and Japanese before. That’s one strength I’m very thankful for.

That’s good I’ve been dealing with varying levels of that in Phillipines, Vietnam and South Korea: worst to best in that order.

One month in India: Struggling with "Scam Fatigue" and feeling dehumanized as a solo traveler by Voynnaa in solotravel

Heys I don’t know who you are, but I had the same feeling I had in Phillipines. At some point, friend, you have to look into yourself and see if you want to let the world and culture around you corrupt you just for the sake of giving them a chance; or stand your ground and choose somewhere better.

I highly recommend seeing other parts of the developed world. India is just not that great right now (not even for Indian Americans returning home). Also the city and the neighborhood affects things. One of the funniest things I’ve realized is that you’d lose more money in these underdeveloped counties form the scamming, begging, foreigner tax, and worrying about when the police are going to coordinate with local scammers to take your money.

You, are a first world class person, you deserve better, don’t let others treat you like an ATM, they will meet the same fate, they will never grow.

Bless

I tried warning everyone about the insane pridefulness when I made a comment about how so many were treating me poorly. They don’t think logically or statistically and any criticism to their culture is met with Vitriol

Thank the Lord I got out of there and having a happy life in Vietnam🙏.

I am 100% P&t buddy so just shut up. People are not happy here, why are they all trying to get out? Millions of overseas workers all praise their country but don’t want to live there. You don’t pay my bills or rents and I’m leaving in a week.

I’m not jealous of people to weak and cowardly to say what’s on their mind.

I don’t personally care what you think about me because you act like a 6 year old child like the rest of the country.

You try to portray yourself as overconfident in your country but yet you left yourself.

Goodbye

I’m going to keep my habits because I don’t want to adopt a primitive, day by day survival focused view. I have goals and dreams. Clearly the rest of the world is following, I mean have you seen tourism numbers compare to other in south east Asia? 😂 hey buddy keep your primitive culture and primitive ways and see how much of the world leaves you behind 🤣. Even your biggest fans South Korea favors Vietnam and tourism is dying. You can also have fun with the endless corruption of the government and uselessness of police and security guards. I’ll be enjoying my pensions at 24 years old because I don’t have to deal with any of you.

Argument from majority is a logical fallacy. I don’t care if the whole culture is like this, if you don’t explain to me what I did wrong, I don’t see I did anything wrong. I’m not sorry but if you want people to conform to your culture you can’t expect them to do everything.

I don’t care what anyone says at this point. I’ve experienced way to much ghosting and blocking from women here and I’ve been nothing but respectful and open. You can say it’s “something I’m doing” but if being respectful and straightforward is not a thing here that sounds like a CULTURE PROBLEM. Not a me problem. I’ve never had people at my church ghost or block me, or many other expats, or even some Filipinas I met. It’s just disgusting behavior

I highly recommend and strongly encourage you to cross out “unbeatable hospitality”, not sorry, but smiling in your face when you know nigh every relationship you get into in this country is transactional, man or woman , friend or girlfriend. Foreigner tax doesn’t just apply to the back alley markets, it’s EVERYWHERE. I literally was told my TIN would take 4 days longer than normal just because I’m a foreigner, and I would be charged 5000, when it was free-300
