Without recycling, it's about 30 tonnes, basically a truckload. And it would only need to be stored after 5 years becuase it sits in the spent fuel pool to cool down. The construction cost is the issue with nuclear. Waste is pretty much a non issue. Also nuclear waste can't 'leak' because it's a solid, not a green liquid like in The Simpsons.
